Hello,
I`m kind a new here, nice to meet you all Very Happy.
I`m just taking my license courses. And i have a chance to buy a suzuki bandit 1200 naked / 2001 year with a very low price from a friend.
I want to know if you think I can handle it after some practice with it . I am a reserved guy . But i want to know others impressions about this idea. P.s. I really like the bike.

Are you USA?

We prefer to spell it Licence in the UK

Driving Licence as opposed to Driver's License.

Pedant is Important to some of us.

A 1200 bike for someone that just past their test could be a challenge.

A 600 will be infinitely more of a handful when compared to the bike used to pass a test in UK.

You might lose a few quid by purchasing a smaller engine bike then trading up.
But falling off a 1200cc bike will not be pretty.

It is really all about experience rather than skill.

When you've done your test then take it for a ride and see how you feel on it. Saying that my motto is light is best.

I test rode a 1200 Bandit, and recall that I was surprised by its instantaneous, quick acceleration. My advice is that the Bandit is too much bike for a new rider. It takes time before the motorcycle's control inputs (throttle, brake, clutch) become instinctual. Grab too much throttle in a low gear and you'll find yourself on your back. I suggest a motorcycle with a throttle that is not so reactive, one where a big handful will not flip the bike over backwards.

As long as you can physically handle the 1200, why not. It only goes as fast as you twist the throttle and I found the big Bandit a bit of a pussycat of a bike. Just take your time and get used to it before trying to be a Rossi. Wink
