Heat Death is a sci-fi survival game where you can build, upgrade, and customize your battle train to explore and survive a frozen world! This train is not only your shelter and vehicle, but also your weapon and ally to face hostile drones, deadly storms, and hidden mysteries of an unknown world!

Spent a good few hours on this, worth checking out.

I hope the game doesn't move away from Train Survival.
The whole "Without the train, you will die" is a decent niche.

The fear of not planning ahead when you need to leave the train and being caught without power cells or food is real.

The free demo is available on steam at the moment.

Under the Waves PC.

Hard to describe it without spoiling but a very interesting small budget game.

HELLDIVERS II

10/10

Epic game. Outrageously good. God bless Super Earth.

FOR FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY!

HONKAI: STAR RAIL

7/10

Once you get through the tutorial it's really easy to play, I love the autoplay feature. Easier game to play than Genshin in terms of playability but doesn't have the depth of story or lore or world building that Genshin Impact does.

Still recommend it. Completely possible to play for free.

Brotato - a sort of roguelite top down shooter, easy to play, hard-ish to finish, and quite fun

X-Plane 12.

Think MSFS200 was the last flight sim I'd used. How things have come along.

Thankfully will not be going full SIMer..still have some kudos to cling to, besides the PS4 controller gets the job done.

Outcast - A New Beginning

I think this is meant to be some sort of sequel/remake, never played the original. I've played about 15mins of this game but I doubt I'll play more. It's not often I invoke the refund system in Steam Sad

You start the game with the clichéd "wake up in a strange place with no memory of how you got there" and instantly fall in with some alien freedom fighters (who just happen to speak English.) Not much of a spoiler to say you discover the invaders are Human, possibly the military unit your character was/is in.

"I think I picked the wrong side..." can you switch and wipe out the aliens? Hell no, the game railroads you straight into "our aliens are orange not blue for copyright reasons" even featuring a mad military leader in some cutscenes.

I suppose if you're a mentally deranged neurodiverse Leftoid mid-wit you might lap up the plot but it's not for me, thanks.

Military madness on the PC engine.

Nice old fashioned turn based strategy on a hexagon grid.

I have the quest 3, and on it most days.

Currently playing the Resident Evil games, done 7, 8 PCVR and 4 standalone on the quest. And just started 2. There is no logic in the order I am playing them Laughing

I think its great, and has put my gaming pc to use again.

There is an app called Virtual Desktop, you install that on the headset, and the streamer program on the PC, and then you can play PCVR games wirelessly.

There are free apps you can use like steam link, but found VD to be best

Its got better, its still pretty naff if you have iffy vision anyway. I have the Vive and Quest 3.

I imagine the dust layer is a bit higher than when I last checked... it rarely gets used now.

My Rift barely gets used, most games for it are either just ported to VR or more of a tech demo than a game. I just found I cant be bothered to play games stood up most of the time and playing for longer than an hour makes me dizzy for the rest of the day if I haven't used it in a while.

Fat Horny Scotsman?

Anyhoo, moving swiftly on... Baldur's Gate 3 is on hiatus. It is a good game but TBH the narrative is so dense it's more like experiencing War and Peace. Sometimes you just want some mind numbing entertainment Smile

I got given a copy (two in fact) of Starfield when I rebuilt my PC but I deliberately left it till it'd been decently patched. From what I'm reading Bethesda is on the cusp of releasing the Creation Kit which may or may not bring about a modding frenzy. Certainly it will introduce entirely new and original bugs.

tl;dr it should now be in the best state for the vanilla game.

Compared to BG3 the narrative in Starfield is, how shall I put it, dimensionally bereft and thank the Gods for that! You know what? I would like to waste time on the eye candy that is the Ship Builder (and then discover you can only have one reactor so my pocket battleship went in the bin) which gives a slight nod to Kerbel Space Program - no bad thing.

Out in the sticks (e.g. abandoned outpost on faraway planet) I can see the samey-ness people complain about but the major cities/planets are very detailed and lively. A bit Cyberpunk 2077-lite but again, thanks very much... nom-nom-nom... [consume content.]

Odyssey was great. Loved the tour of ancient Greece! Surprisingly accurate geographical representation too.

My boy recently played Valhalla - loved it. Taught him more about the layout and history of England than he has learned from school.

My favourite is the very first one.

Project cars 2 and iRacing are absolutely amazing in VR. Haven't played any other genre like it. Actually would like to live in a virtual world.

So, today I got Sim City 3000, one of those I game that I have fond memories of. Well, 6 hours later it's still great fun and time really flies when you play it. If I didn't have to go to work tomorrow morning, I'd be still playing it now. Thumbs Up

Syberia: The World Before (2022) - 7/10

The newest/latest game of the series, not the best one, yet still alright enough for me to enjoy it. The visuals (environments) and audio were excellent, as always, the story was alright, but the gameplay, or rather the puzzles were somewhat way too easy to solve. The story line was alright with some plot twists here and there and the game also tells you what happened in the previous games, just in case you forgot, or you've never played the ''original'' series. I would actually recommend people to try the original series first.

Also, the game is now in full 3D in Unity engine, which does make the game look nice but also a bit too demanding for my ''experienced'' i5 6600 (16GB DDR4) with GTX1070Ti, but with the free sync enabled it was very enjoyable at high settings with TAA at 1080p. 60fps for the most part with dips to high 40s (smoothed out by the free sync) and with stutters during some of the cutscenes for whatever reason.

*I should probably at least replace the CPU for i7 7700K, as they go for next to nothing these days. Thinking

MYST (2021) - 9/10 (Finished, shorter than I thought)
I've never really played the original MYST game, although I tried. Now I got the 2021 version made in Unreal Engine, and I'm blown away. The visuals and soundtrack are amazing, the puzzles are rather challenging but so far I can manage and it does feel great when you figure stuff out. Also, the game runs flawlessly on my ''experienced'' PC. I get rock solid 60fps in 4K with everything maxed out with the FSR set to max quality. Without FSR, I get 50-60fps, but the free sync doesn't seem to work well in this game (stutter), so FSR it is, and I can't tell the difference in the image quality between FSR off and on anyway. The game also has ray tracing but that's not happening on my ''experienced'' PC.

I also got the 2024 version of Riven, in a bundle, but I'll play that once I'm done with the MYST.

FSR = AMD's clever upscaling and advanced frame generation technology to help boost the frame rates.

Finished. MYST is a nice puzzle game with somewhat uninspiring story but the visuals and puzzles sure kept me going. Even though it's a full 3D real time game now, it's still very old and you can tell. But, well worth it. Now it's time for RIVEN.

I was able to finish the game, but I got all the bad endings first. Laughing

Luckily I saved the game before you have to choose what to do.

Now I'm playing RIVEN (2024) and I'm lost. Way too much stuff to do way too many things to remember and/or note. It's the kind of game where after 3 hours you're able to advance to only realize that you forgot something, well 3 hours ago. Laughing

That being said, RIVEN (2024) does look beautiful and is still fun enough for me to try to solve the puzzles. It also runs reasonably well on my i5 6600 + 1070Ti. By the way, the game is way more challenging to play than the MYST. The only place I got sort of stuck in the MYST was the very end of the game, otherwise I had no difficulties with the puzzles. When playing RIVEN, a lot of frustration is involved. Smile
