Ah, yes, of course. I forget that when the white man takes a term coined by another ethnicity and changes it for their own purposes then the white man's definition supercedes all previous uses, how stupid of me. I bow to your white superiority, massah.

If we really want to get pedantic, I could remind you that it means I'm awake, which begs the question, what are you?

Meanings change, and in the UK nobody claims they’re woke anymore (if they ever did) because it has come to mean being overly concerned about supposedly disadvantaged minorities to the point of virtue-signalling.

Self aware and possessing common sense? Or possessing enough virtue that it is completely a non issue, and therefore if they suddenly find themselves having a a slightly virtuous thought, they do not feel the need to broadcast it to all and sundry to make them feel better about themselves?

I absolutely await your response with baited breath..... I gather from your nomenclature that you are or fancy yourself as some sort of expert in matters of the mind?

I am not, but...

Would you care to dance?

It is interesting that though the UK and US share both language and Common Law that culturally we're as far apart as the ocean between us Thinking

Considering that when African Americans started to use the term they would interchange it with woken, it doesn't take a genius to work out what they were implying.
As this thread was originally about a US company and its scrapping of DEI policies it would not be unreasonable to assume that the use of an African American term would also be applied in the US context and DEI in the context of US practices.
Not to mention that while the UK's assless chaps brigade might get hot and bothered about the actions of HD in the US, they needn't worry about their favourite UK dealer as the UK has laws about that kind of thing. (Equalities Act. anyone?) Laughing

Have you ever known an American that was otherwise? Laughing

Sorry to disappoint, it was a nickname acquired in my 20's for doing stupid shit in the great outdoors.

As for dancing, I've got two left feet and live in shit kickers....

I don't recall ever hearing anyone calling themselves woke and the only time it's mentioned over here is by right wing pundits and their adoring hordes who use it to mean anyone that isn't a white bigot.
