There was a meme going about where the commentators (probably CNN) asked their fancy video wall if there were any areas where Harris outperformed Biden's 2020 results. "Let see..." Not a sausage! Turns out it was a fault with the tech. She actually did do better in a handful of counties (the US has >3,000)

Now people are looking at the stats for 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020 & 2024. Setting aside 2020, the Democrat votes are roughly the same magnitude over the years - a solid "Vote Blue no matter who" core - versus the Republican vote which tends to be "did people turn out to vote?" As I've said before, 2020 is a statistical anomaly and it seems like 10~20 million votes came out of nowhere Thinking

The Red Interwebs are still very bitter about this. Let it go, bro, let it go Smile

Harris got hit so hard by the red wave that FEMA sent her 750 dollars.

OMFG. The best of reporting here............

With Trump’s win, some women wonder: Will the US ever see a female president?

OK, fair comment until you read on......

“I am just aghast,” said Precious Brady-Davis, a Black transgender woman.

Do not make me laugh. Of the what, 150 million women in America they ask a black bloke in a dress. Wokism at it's worst.

That in a nutshell is why they lost, people are sick of the way democrats and media have lost their minds.

The democrat-supporting late night show hosts were actually 'crying' when opening their shows! Kimmel and Colbert were especially funny Smile - and incredibly condescending towards Trump voters.

So what's his priority list? I bet the full presidential pardon for himself is already written out and at the top of the "To sign on the 20th of January." pile.

Remember this Val? https://i.imgur.com/LBOfpAt.jpg

and this? https://i.imgur.com/VpyBH5x.jpg

Time has not been kind to Val.

George & co. are taking a moment to reassess their strategy. Expect to see Val reappear around January ahead of the inauguration on the 20th.

Very similar to the meltdown over here when Corbyn got annihilated. The stunned''who actually voted for the Tories' in the media was delicious.

I really enjoyed going on FB and saying ME. Laughing

Sounds like few of you are bothered about the implications of a trade war?

I bet Putin's have a good old giggle at the prospect of Ukraine having it's US crutch being pulled away while the rest of Europe (geographically speaking, so that includes the UK) gets a 20% wallop on the armaments it loves to buy from the Yanks. You lot can't even keep a few scabby boat people out what happens when the North Korean horde fancies stopping by for a cream tea?

We need something different. The absolutely boring same sh1t isn't working. Maybe Trumps ideas won't but hey, he's got every right to try them, he's won. Just like Starmer has here.

If it proves a disaster then fine, no one will vote for him or his like again.

And the reason we can't stop scabby boat people coming here is for some inexplicable reason h=we aren't allowed to machine gun the inflatables. Don't know why it's considered wrong but hey, for some reason it is.

I'm actually struggling with the realisation that I'm not nearly as freaked out about Trump getting back in as I thought I would be. This must be some sort of Boomer chain reaction Laughing

I totally understand the hand-wringing on the "women's bodies" thing. But it all seems very far away from my current life as none of that procreational stuff matters to me any more, plus its Over There.

So I think I'll just keep my mouth shut and mind my business, see what happens. Perhaps we will all be living in Interesting Times.

The tariffs will be what the yanks buy from us and not the other way round....

On the plus side, unless he manages to change the 22nd ammendment (which is very unlikely), he's out of everybodys lives in January 2029.

I'd imagine it'll then be a change of party because he'll have sacked anybody in his own party who shows a barest hint of competence by then in case they make him look bad.

I almost wish he'd just won a second term last time, then he wouldn't still be about smelling the place up.

A full 8 years of Republican administration might have been enough time for the Democrats to "re-centre" in order to be electable (think Bill Clinton era).

I think the 2020 outcome gave some of the more radical elements the wrong impression that their hair brained views won them an election when it was mostly down to a highly incompetent reaction to a pandemic.

Well let's hope so, although protectionist trade measures have, historically, rarely gone unanswered.

The difference is the US has a significant internal market. Cars is a classic example: no one round the world really wants to buy an American car but they'd be very keen to sell them one.

Building up domestic skills and production in the short term with a long term aim to negotiate fair trade deals and unleash inflict "Made In America" on the world has worked in the past but the world moves on. Thanks to the unions, the US can no longer compete against slave labour and automation Neutral
