As of 28 August 2024, 117 hostages had been returned alive to Israel, with 105 released in a prisoner exchange deal, four released by Hamas unilaterally and eight rescued by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Israel have also been killing some... How 3 Israeli hostages tried to save themselves, only to be killed by their own military

They've probably agreed to it as they couldn't defeat Hezbollah in the mountainous central Lebanon. Plus Lebanon isnt in their greater Israel plans. Syria and Iraq make juicier targets.
