tl;dr 70% of KTM's debt is being written off but they only have 90 days to come up with the other 30%. Will BMW buy the brand?

A lot of good points raised in that video, especially about a potential BMW buy-out (fill the gaps in their product range + eliminate it's biggest competitor in the large Adventure Bike sector + potential move to MotoGP)

I'm not a massive fan of KTM's, but it would certainly be a dark day if they did cease to exist in the future

Basically done a SAAB. Continued producing the high quality vehicles they wanted to and selling them at whatever price they though people would pay for them. Instead of producing the vehicles they needed to and selling them for more than they cost to make.

It's what happens when you leave engineers and enthusiasts in charge of marketing unfortunately.

Not that I'll miss them particularly, I never really liked KTMs, too many niggling reliability faults. They knew this themselves, it's why they didn't give Ewan and Charlie bikes for the Long Way Round.

I'm still more upset that MZ went under though, just as they were getting good.

I think this sums it up for me. I've always seen KTM as new, expensive and quite specialised bikes. In my formative years of buying cheap bikes, there was never a cheap KTM that fitted what I was after. They appeared to be bikes for people to buy new, when they care about it having slightly better power/weight than the competition. Like Ducati, but without the cool bikes from the 70s and 80s and without the Monster.
