Bit of a bugger if you need to put in some fuel, I expect.

All fine now but fuck me. How can you market a vehicle that can have an electronic glitch that leaves the engine running with the fucking key out? Clearly the key switch isn't actually a switch, it's a suggestion input.

Checked on the way home tonight and key off does kill the engine now.

That sounds like the kind of safety issue where I would get on to whoever services the van.
The key not being a switch is fairly normal now, because some of the computers need to shut down somewhat gracefully. It should however certainly kill the high pressure fuel pump very quickly.

Not so much "gears ground" but bemused.

Yesterday I espied a guy in a Mercedes on his tod wearing a face mask Thinking No TFL sticker or other evidence of being a taxi, car was a bit too grubby if anything.

Maybe the body in the boot was kicking off a bit.

Wasting an entire afternoon with the Virgin Media chat window. Calling their 150 number just takes you to automated payments: "your outstanding balance is... zero pounds. Please enter your card details now."

I think it's taken me 6 or 7 iterations of the Chatbot and/or Indonesian call centre slaves to find anyone the least be cooperative but it looks like I might manage to haggle them down to the same price as the previous 18 months, give or take a couple of quid.

An afternoon's work or see my bill double Shocked

<addendum> haggled 'em down to £4 cheaper per month than the last contract for the exact same services Smile

Today I am mostly emailing 165 people. Mad
One.At.A.Time.
Brick Wall

Perhaps I could have used mail-merge (or indeed AI) to do it but it would take me longer to work out HOW to do it than to actually do it.

Luckily it is the same message/attachment so I only have to do minor faffing and then press send on each one, and now I am "in the swing of it". (I am already up to #50, anyway)

Sooner or later some of them will read it, freak out and I will have to deal with the fall-out.
Hopefully not until tomorrow/in dribs and drabs over the next few weeks.

One hopes one will not have to email the other 200-ish people.

If nothing else it will be an enriching exercise.
There may also be some schadenfreude ... Thinking

That's definitely a mail merge operation. Essentially you need a template email and a spread sheet with the addresses, names and whatever else needs to changes.

Do you use Microsoft Office?

I do use Office but not 365 in any effective way, I'm still in old skool mode.

I used to be the mailmerge champ in pre-Windows days so its not that I can't use it - I had just started down the road of emailing, and there were a fair few that needed little extra additions ("the personal touch") in the message as I was sending them.

Anyway, it's all done now, nose to the grindstone an' all that Laughing
