Does it rev right up to the limiter, which should be around 12,500 i think

It is a cable throttle, and if it has been down the road a rebuilt, it would be worth checking the cable is linked properly and not kinked or something

I wonder if this is to do with the absence of the Ram Air. I remember back in the mists of time G (remember him?) had a ZX9R that he streetfightered, and it wouldn't run right unless he put the ram air tubing back in place. I wonder if there is a sensor in the intake, or the airbox is designed to work under a certain amount of pressure or something?

Considering what has been done to the bike it seems like a fairly obvious place to start.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I'm on a couple of zx6r Faceache pages and this is really common, the carb vents must be at the same air pressure as the intake ducting overwise they bog down under load.

Apparently even when done correctly the streetfightered ones often don't perform as well due to the carbs being designed and set up for ram air.
