Oil, filter, brake fluid, coolant, spark plug...

First ever MoT for the Husky is due in May so I've printed out a full service schedule. Plug is a probably a bit OTT for the mileage but it draws a big fat line under everything. Skipping the air filters as they were changed last year and probably leave the valve gaps as getting to the engine - enough to take the top off and peek inside - means stripping the bulk of the electrics out. Says check after 15,000km and I don't think the bike's done half of that.

A ladder stand off doo dah.
It's a game changer for people like me who struggle when being at the top of the ladder while cleaning the upstairs windows etc.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still aware of the height but because of the stability and space you get to work it gave me so much more confidence just to be up there.

From FleaBay: a right-hand foot-peg hanger. It also doubles as the exhaust mounting point and rather than buy the correct replacement, the previous owner chopped the bracket down. (The left-hand side just unbolts.)

I asked my favourite MoT place and they said just covering the seat with a bag was not enough. Either you need pegs with your pillion seat or a hard cover over the top.

Yeah I ran into this bollox a few years ago.
Someone pointed me in the direction of a bloke on Ebay who made replica pillion seat cowls.

What about wrapping it in barbed/razor wire, you can point out that it does exactly the same as a seat cowl, it prevents anyone from sitting on it Very Happy

At the risk of making Hellkat faint I'd recommend this.
Just gorgeous on a bagel.

FTFY Wink

Seriously though, the MoT manual says:

Quote:
If there is an optional cowl replacing or covering the pillion seat at the time of test, you should consider it to be a single seat motorcycle.

They say "cowl" explicitly (and not some temporary covering I suppose).

I snack on it straight from the jar or use as is on fish, salads etc
but you can use it while cooking if you like
I get proper Korean stuff from my local Chinese food emporium
supermarket stuff is usually bland crap

I must admit the fridge does tend to whiff like an old rabbit hutch at times but fuck it

I am just heading out to buy some:
* slug pellets
* weed killer
... to keep my back garden in a favourable state this summer.

I am sooooo sick of the bramble and ivy that permeates my garden from the neighbours' side.

Neither neighbour does anything about it ... in fact last year the little old lady next door kept putting the bramble that was coming from behind HER shed, over onto my side of the fence, fucking old bag. Not enough blackberries to justify the hassle!

I used to prune it away but now I just pour boiling water over it - I was out there last week with a vinegar/salt solution... it needs to proper Fuck Right Off. That whole corner is practically impossible for me to plant on cos I have to keep weedkillering it.

I'm very annoyed as I had really nice plans for that corner, as it was the sunniest one. I had a nice blue thistle, some gladdies and a datura plant there, even some fennel a couple of years ago, but it needs to be constantly weedkillered. I'll have to stick a few pavers on it and just put pots there so I can move my plants when I need to weedkill their creepy shite.

I started a honeysuckle/clematis duo last year which seems to be taking off quite well - so I have to eradicate as much of the cretinous bramble/ivy before my end of the fence properly gets going.

... just have to avoid buying any more actual *plants* whilst at the garden centre, I just can't help myself.

Laughing

Yes I did think about that myself.
I'll just sprinkle them on the pots for now, that's where all the sensitive plants are that I don't want to be munched.

Although I also bought some of that dog and cat repellent (garlicky sort of powder) to spread about in the hope that it will keep the critters off the soil . Eternal optimist, me Laughing

Couple of bags of this over the fence will kill the brambles and they will stay dead without the use of weedkiller.

Bought a selection of beverages in Tesco's usual "4 for 3" offer...

"White Stout" what a con! What you meant to say is "beer by any other name" Neutral Okay, but nothing magical.

Next up is "Ultra Phase Double IPA" by North brewery and this is very nice! Grapefruit is a common thing with micro breweries but usually it's a front and centre punch to the nose. With Ultra Phase the fruit is relegated to a third order undertone and all the better for it.

6.6%... 10/10 would snore on the sofa before dark again Smile

I wonder if they live in the bramble behind Mrs Gill's shed Thinking
I've not opened my own shed doors for the best part of 4 years so I expect any hedgehog that might have wandered in there would be toast by now anyway.

Rolling Eyes
I *suppose* I could make a hedgehoggery with its front door facing a gap in my neighbour's fence. When the dog arrived, I got someone to put up a bit of wood there so that she couldn't squeeze through.

But I guess I could take it down and butt a little hedgehog Omaze house there where the brambles are behind the old lady's shed.

Might help mitigate my now-guilty feelings that I might have inadvertently sent some poor ickle pricklies to their boiled-watery deaths. Rolling Eyes
