Fall [1]
Back in February I was up at the back of my garage looking up at the roof (was about to measure it), I took a step backwards to get a better view and stumbled on a drainpipe I had lying on the ground.

Went backwards over the two block high terrace wall I'd built, landing in a depression I've not filled in yet, with my legs up and over the wall, luckily missing the end of the old steel clothes post.

I've lost a lot of muscle mass over the last few years (due to the heart issues) and it took me around five minutes to get myself up.

Fall [2]
A few hours ago, while trying to do a bit of plastering in the bathroom (I have two walls to plaster).

Was on the second step of a three step ladder and for some reason I lost my balance, I went off it backwards onto the floor, luckily unharmed.

I had fallen with body on one side of the bag of plaster and my legs on the other side.

Took me about five minutes to get into a position to be able to get up, mainly due to a bum right shoulder which gets painful when moved in certain ways.

So yes, I f'n hate getting old (will be 59 this year) Sad

59?

You younguns don't half complain.

I sympathise about the shoulder - I've been stuck in a position with mine where anyway you move is agony

I hate the fact that getting down on the floor (and back up again) to do something is more effort than the actual job itself.

59 and you are moaning, I am 68 and just roll with the injuries. The most important thing about falling over is you do not talk about falling over!

I have caught myself considering buying a new tool (eg a 10mm socket) when I drop one on the floor, rather than trying to pick it up....

Still riding the 2nd GSX1400, only not doing very many miles on it as I rarely go out anywhere ... my original 14 is awaiting a rebuild with a new frame (cross brace under head rusted away to nothing).

I can manage it not too bad, if I have something to hold onto. I've lost a lot of the strength I used to have, can't even lift my backside off the floor using my arms these days!

Yep, you know it's bad when you need to think about how you are going to pick it up rather than just doing it!

Protein, protein, protein.. The older you get the more you need. Also, its a little known fact that you can wank yourself back into fitness. Five minutes pud pulling is equivalent to a 10 mile run..

.. apparently Cool

I'm only in my 40s and I have to carefully plan my descent!

I'm going to be 50 next year, I'm already telling everyone to ignore it and a birthday is NOT happening - quite frankly don't want to know thank you very much!

I have 5 siblings older than me all in their late 50's and 60's, my wife is 4 years older than me. Going by the number of operations, therapies, 'aids', medication etc, etc they all need - I'd rather not get older.

Might be a bit macabre, and of course I could go first, but going by the natural order of things they'll all die before me and I don't fancy going to that many funerals in my old age... Shocked
