I have a 2006 ybr 125 that runs fine for a few weeks then wont start, battery fully charged, strong spark and new spark plug fresh fuel carb is clean. It turns over but doesn't fire.

Anyone have any ideas on the issue?[/quote]

I started to answer assuming FI then realised it's the older carb model.
I'd pull the plug and check for a spark and if it's wet after
cranking/not starting for a while.

It is wet after cranking/not starting should it not be?

Wet plug suggests you're getting fuel and no spark.
If you hold the plug against the cylinder head and press the starter
you should see it spark as the engine spins.

IF not, investigate why.
the diagram I have shows no sidestand switch to feck things up
so I'd check for power to the ECU type thing first
It's not an ECU of the fuel injection type but more of an ignition
control box with a relay to dim the headlight when starting.

There is also a pulser on the stator which sends pulses to the ecu
so if that fails it wont go.

There’s something missing here. Is it, “Ran for a few weeks, now won’t start”, or ‘Runs, then turns over but won’t start, then runs again’? Is there a long lay-off between running and then not starting? What happens in the interim?

I think i may have found the issue with the ignition switch i am going to replace and see if this helps - there was no spark earlier but every other time I have checked there has been.

It depends i use the bike 3 or 4 times a week and I could be riding home stop at the shop come back out and it wont start.

Fuel tap is used before and after.

I had the same issue on my YBR and it turned out to be the ignition switch. The contacts inside get worn and then you end up with this intermittent starting issue. Spraying some contact cleaner down the keyhole helped for a little bit.
Mine was the later fuel injected model though.

Checking the ignition switch is a good idea, could well be that

The diagram shows 4 wires:
Red: power in from battery/fuse
Brown: power out to the bikes electrical systems
Black: ground
Black/white to 'ecu'

I've swapped them on later FI ybrs and the security screws may be
a hassle unless someone has been in there before
