About to bolt these on...

Just got my new calipers through the post for my rvf400 (off a cbr900 rry)

Any recommendations (with links) for pads and would fitting a new master cylinder be a sensible addition?

With these fitted to my lightened rvf the breaking should be impressive Twisted Evil

Before you do so.

Get some braided hoses, I see they only have the "rubbers" on.

When i bought them they had rubber ones, but fitting them to the braided i already have on my rvf Smile thanks for the advice mate.

If the total slave cylinder area of the new calipers is the same as the old calipers, then I wouldn't bother.

If the new area is more than the old, you'll have to put a in lot more effort/ lever travel at the lever to get the same braking effect. Fitting a larger master cylinder would probably be a good idea if possible in this case.

If the slave area is less than it was before, you'll no doubt have much sharper and more sensitive brakes. Fitting a smaller master cylinder to get the same ratio between the master and slave area as before might depend on how you want the brakes to feel and whether you want to run the risk of grabbing a handful and going over the front with an emergency stop.

If by slave area you mean pad size, these ones are larger then the standard rvf jobbies. Looks like i better start hunting an r1 or fireblade master cylinder down Cool

Claud doesnt the cbr400 have any options for brake upgrades?

Yes but Claud has no money. Laughing

I'm sure I've seen an adaptor plate made up, so it can take those same calipers. I think I'll fit some braided lines, and improve them the cheapo way, the've got to be worth £20.

Your Rvf will stop stupidly fast with those on. Thumbs Up

Not pad area. The area of the pistons on the brake calipers.
