Ok, Today I sorted out the overheating problem and put fresh coolant though the whole system, Cleaned out the thermostat and it runs fine now, no more air in the system.
While I had the bike apart, I noticed smoke comming from this.

Now come to think of it, I did smell burning when riding it home yesterday, so i stoped to let it cool down. I just put it down to the lack of coolant in the radiator. But that was fine.
So ive looked through my Haynes manual and it turns out this "Thing" is a resistor linking the "OFF" wire on the headlight to the frame.

I disconnected it and took it off. Earthed the wire what came to the resistor to the frame and started it up. All the electrics work and the engine starts fine. (Thats without the resistor). And it didnt smoke or get hot.
Now im not risking not having it on there as it wouldnt be there if its not needed.
So any ideas on what this actually does, how much they cost, Wheather I would have to order one from Peugeot or could I pick one up at a local bike shop. And how can I fix it. Is it the resistor, or a problem with my electrics?
Thanks...

Its just really annoying.
Ok, its old for a scooter. The average life span on a speedfight is somthing like 3 years. Mine is comming up to 7 year old!
But since the day I got it, Its been one problem after another, And its just Pissing me off now!
Ill get this fixed, then it will be somthing else what blows or burns out!
Needs selling!
I might just break it on ebay.

They should be common enough to get the from a breakers for not too much money..
At the same time if theres a short replaceing it could just cook it again...
It WILL work without out one but not for very long, the resistor needs to stay in the system or bad things will happen...
7 years is a long time for a scooter to live, i'd say average life expectancy is a year normaly ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |
