The bike in question is a 1993 L Reg Suzuki RG125 UN Wolf.

After a few days of not using the bike I decided I would derestrict it for the ride home from my halls in manchester to wigan, as it would be easier to keep with the faster traffic going down the east lancs if it was derestricted.

I had heard that these bikes are restricted by the black and white wire which is top left on the block that connects to the EDI.

After a little tug that wire actually snapped and was disconnected, at this point I was worried since if I got it wrong my bike probably wouldn't start.

Yet lo and behold the bike started and when I went off it did seem to be much faster at accelerating in the low gears (however this could just be because I hadn't rode it in 3 days and wasn't used to it).

When I got to the east lancs the most I could get out of it was about 68Mph which leads me to think that either I incorrectly derestricted it (but why would it run with a wire detached) or that it was now derestricted but some mechanical fault was holding it back at higher speeds.

Note: To get 68mph I had to be doing about 11k revs in 5th gear, going up to 6th just knocked it into a sulk and it slows down.

Any ideas what has actually happened?
