 |
|
KTM have a big test ride day on Saturday, so if you fany riding one of their bikes, find your nearest dealer (by looking here) and give them a call.
I found that my nearest dealer is about 10 miles away and gave them a call wanting a ride on the new Super Duke. I was expecting them to say "You must be joking, it's booked out all day" but surprisingly it wasn't.
So, at 12pm on Saturday I have a 990cc Super Duke for 30-40 mins
All I need to do is turn up with my licence and a utility bill. I will also get entered into a competition whereby I have a 1-in-400 chance of winning one (apparently). Can't be bad
Test ride report will follow, on Sat afternoon.
More information here on the MCN website. |

Can you just turn up and ride then?
I went to an open day once at an un-named garage and they would still only let you test ride after you had sat down and gone through all the paper work of buying one and they had to see you as seriously wanting to buy one. I didn't want to buy the bike in question right away, especially without a test ride.
Are the KTM open days better than this? Can you simply turn up and have a go, license permitting and see if it sways you? ____________________ TL1000R Parts For Sale! |

LOLLLLL Bullet proof and KTM in one sentence, hahahahhaaha
Why do you think they are commonly known as KTbooM's ???
KTM's aren't bullet proof, no supermoto is truly bulet proof, most don't even come close . |
Like i say, my good friend james has a 2 smoker 250 race rep ktm, its used exclusively for offroad, and gets abused to hell, both physically and mechanically.
And its never been a problem, except it fouls sparkplugs like a cunt. But how you managed to kill a 4 stroke ? ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

Ride it... they don't last long, they are race bikes really .. you need to do some more research into KTM EXC's and reliability |
Hes had it about 3-4 years from new, in which, hes lumped it off several jumps, his brother has lumped it off several jumps and flipped it wheelying it, ive cained it through a fence into a tree.
Its had dick all services and the inept tinkerings of idiot children as maintenance. Put it this way, they /still/ jetwashed it without the plug on the gear oil sump. And they (and i) will rag a two stroke to pretty much limits for about 9 hours straight with no rest. And no warming up usually, occasional cooldowns while we have a quick dirnk/joint etc but thats it.
It gets ragged bodged and abused, and asides from being a cunt to kickover every now and then, its pretty damn fine and dandy (loud fucker tho).
Oh yeh that reminds me, the actual exhaust hanger snapped off the subframe, and took all the bolts out of the DEP end can, so we just bodged the zorst back onto whats left of the hanger. And it will stay like that till it falls off.
Bless em. And yet i havent used my precious cbr for 3 weeks cos it has a slight oil leak.
Yet the ktm STILL works fine. I call that pretty rugged. Id rather ktm build quality then fucking suzuki *spits* ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

Erm, 2 stroke, 4 stroke.. BIG difference
2 strokes usually take more abuse if you give it to them... and are cheaper to maintain/fix usually.. .. 4 strokes are a different ball game..! ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |

Right, which do you see survive best/longest, AR125's or CG125's?
And yes 4 strokes are more expensive to fix, but taaaaaaaaaaake ages to die... usually. ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

Fuck them - get the Super Duke |
Why?
My 525 is faster round the twisties, handles better, races better, goes off road better, looks better, sounds better.. generally better in every way..
Superduke does what?? expensive, not much to it really, can't carry feck all, big, doesn't go off road, lumpy bottom end, sluggish top end... what's the point to them?
Would like to see a super duke try and hack it around a supermoto track! ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |

Faster round tight twisties. The Super Duke is not a Super Moto though, so hardly fair.
Handles better? Round the tight twisties maybe (see above). I saw a magazine review recently that said the Super Duke would be right behind a Aprilia RSV1000 all the way through normal "road" twisties.
Races better? Again, a different type of race.
Looks better, sounds better - subjective

That's because it's not a Supermoto!
I'd like to see your bike handle it round Silverstone. Sluggish top end? Well it still does 135mph, and has 118bhp and 70+ft/lb of torque, which I'm guessing is more than yours
(Not knocking your bike, I like it, they're just different styles!) |

Because they are damn cool. Id love one, handle well, wheelie well. I mean they have the tiniest sprockets in the world, so therefore a tiny bit of downgearing...
Id go for that ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...
