Grab the nearest blunt implement, turn on all the lights and go and shout at them. With any luck, they scarper. Without luck, then I'd probably confront them, depending on how many there were and whether I had anybody/ thing else to back me up.

Hmm, big difference between what you would do and what you would want to do. I certainly wouldn't make a sound but would get outside and run at them with a pole that I've got in the cupboard. I try not to make a sound when checking on it as I have to open a window fully to see down at the street below

Hmmm...i have thought about what i would do, but i suppose it would be a spur of the moment thing.

I have a decent sized baseball bat next to my bed, so if i looked at the window and saw this happening i would shout at them first whilst brandishing my baseball bat, hopefully that would scare them away. If that fails then i would have no problem with running out there and confronting them.

I would give them a hiding then take them to a quiet place and tell them i going to kill them if i ever hear of them again. I would make them tell me where they stayed and i would check and see if they had any ID on them.So if they go to the police i would have someone do them again and again untill they got the message ie drop the charges

In an ideal world you would be able to catch them, knock them unconcious then wake them up and torture them into telling you every crime theyve done to everyone then drag them round to the victims houses so they could each pull out a tooth with a pair of mole grips before putting him in a bag and setting it on fire before sending it back vial parcelforce to his chavvy girlfriend.

In the real world though its more likely to be: cause a noise to scare them off and call police, or have sufficient security to scare them off in the first place.

Even if I wasnt a coward and could confront someone I dont know in the dark, if by chance I could do some heavy damage the police would completely disregard the fact I caught him messing with my sh!t and have me for assualt with intent.

Way back when Honda H100`s were in fashion. A friend and i had 1 each. Anyways he gives me a call to say someone had been at the chain on his bike last night and would i come round and help if the geezers showed back up. "No problem" says i.

Turned all the lights off at the house, took his girlfriend up to her mums and came back later just before dark, snuck back into the house and left the lights off, sat chatting quietly in the kitchen waiting for the rats to come...

Within 5 minutes there was every scally on the estate (rough estate) at the back door . Thought it was our turn to get some. Anyways as it turned out the little tyke that we had apprehended was gonna do bird this time round for sure (17 year old loads of previous) and his parents pleaded with us not to call the police in return for us not getting our heads kicked in.
Phew.

BUT in answer to the question now i`m older and wiser i`d probably just shout out the window and call the police.

I Live in a summer house in my back garden and the bikes just outside the summer house, so if i heard someone tring to steal my bike sneak to my draw get the hammer burst out the door and whack the person/s in the knees.

If there armed with weapons aim for the body or if its a knife aim for the head. But if its a gun your pretty much screwed.

Either stay inside or if I was feeling brave/stupid go outside in an effort to get them to fuck off, preferably taking something like fire juggling clubs on fire. Turn some music on as loud as possible after calling the police to annoy my neighbours enough for them to come over to complain, setting our house alarm off as well would attract attention, police would do fuck all other than get lost trying to find where I live .

Or stay inside and phone someone fairly near who has large dogs. Turn off any outside lights and attempt to blind them with a big torch I've got as well.
