hey all,

The electrical system on my bike has been worked on by the first owner. Of the four fuses, one has been bypassed. I dont know what exaclty he did but i have a charging problem

Well the question is this. Is the starter relay, the same relay used in charging the bike? Or is there another relay fed back to the positive batttery terminal?

My circuit diagram indicated a relay from the ignition to the positive terminal through the main fuse with nothing else in the circuit line. But I am not sure if its the same as the starter relay as I am a doof about these things. Also I can hear an intermittent clicking in the starter relay once the bike is in ignition.

Please help
thanks

Hi

Most if the time there is not a fuse for the current from the battery via the starter relay to the starter motor. If there was it would need the be a pretty big fuse!

There probably is a fuse on the circuit to trigger the starter relay.

All the best

Hey,
I think I confused the question.

I was talking about the loop which charges the battery. Not the one for starting.

What I wanted to know was if the charging also happens through the starter relay in something like a feedback loop once the bike has been started?
Or is there a separate electrical connection coming back to the battery to charge the bike?

Hi

Generally it will be totally seperate. Some Hondas (CBR600 for example) have a starter relay that also controls most of the wiring, but these are the exception rather than the rule.

All the best
