 |
|
Does anyone know somewhere around north Nott's or North Derbyshire that do bike MoT's but will look the other way over race exhausts that are obviously too loud, based on the fact that I could take my road legal cans along in the car?
I don't want to have to battle with my TL1000R in the garage for two days to swap the cans for the MoT just to have to battle again to get them back on!
Anyone help? ____________________ TL1000R Parts For Sale! |

Given the severity of the fines/slaps on the wrist if they're caught fudging an MOT I don't think anywhere will do them on spec like that for a stranger, the powers that be have got rather hot on the testing stations in recent years
Good luck though, there maybe somewhere around. ____________________ I'm immortal. Well, so far. |

Swapping end cans really doesn't take long at all, don't be lazy and just change your cans over for the MOT. |

Isn't there another thread on this?
Erm - stick your standard cans on though. Much easier than worrying about failing and getting re-tested. ____________________ <Simple> no I'm shaven Jon

is it that hard to swap them over on the tls it looks like 4 bolts each side.
now if anyone wants to see real bad design look up adjusting the preload on a tls, its probably easyiest to remove sodding the engine
speaking of tl suspension the tlplanet guys are doing a group buy to a bitubo rear shock& damper unit for £275 if you are interested.

There is a place in Cumbria that will MOT your bike without even touching it. They tell you to come back in an hour and when you return the bike is sitting exactly where you left it and they give you the certificate. Last time I took my GPZ there the rear brake light switch wasn't working (just needed a squirt of WD40 and a wiggle), it was still not working when I picked up the bike.
A bit of a long ride from Derbyshire though. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

It is only four bolts and it's easy as p'ss, just that mine has a ever so slightly twisted rear subframe and ever so slightly out of line down pipes! Also, the soft aluminium strap around the Scorpion Cans is a bitch for changing shape on you!
| Quote: | *edit* just read you first post **puzzled**How can you take the road legal cans along with you in the car when you are riding the bike? |
I can't take them in the car whilst riding the bike, but the missus can!
| Quote: | You don't even need to do that, as long as you don't go screaming into the MOT garage on full chaff (I know its hard for some people to use part throttle) and the cans are not straight thru, then there should be no problem. |
My cans are almost for display only, they are so straight through it's unreal, just like having no cans at all.
I ran the bike on the driveway once without the cans on, (after taking off standard ones for the first time) it was absolutly awesome! When I put the race cans on, it was the same, but had more bass!
These can's will never pass. Back street garage it is! ____________________ TL1000R Parts For Sale! |

If I were to get knocked off the bike, I would not only have a broken bike, but would also mash the spare cans, which woud in turn more than likely destroy my spine, ribs, possibly my hip and might even cause damage to some internal organs. I don't really want to land on those, thanks very much!
not to mention that we are talking about a seriously heavy pair of cans working out on my shoulders during the ride!
I'll put them in the girlfriends car! ____________________ TL1000R Parts For Sale! |

I'd say either fit them, or if the sub frame and down pipes are bent enough that it takes two days to change your end cans then you really need to look at replacing the bent parts as they're more than slightly bent.
Rather than carrying the cans on your back, just carry them on the back of the bike. Put a bag on the bike and then just bungee them to that, job done in a couple of minutes. |
