Hey all,
Am back after a break with more questions.

Heres the issue.
My 1&4 doesnt fire. Theres a weak spark. It was working fine till one day it was sitting in the rain.
I looseened conenctions to the starter coil for 1&4, reconnected, sprayed WD40 etc. Still no luck.

What other components are there other than the ignition coils and the igniter unit associated with the system?

Also are the 1&4 coils identical electrical to the 2&3? so can i just swap the coils and connect 2&3 instead of 1&4 to see if it is the coil?

It still starts and runs on two cylinders like a bullock cart Shocked
Any other tips/suggestions on things i can look at before i get bugged and go spend more $ ? Sad

PS Stinky, you had told me earlier that i could.. But i think i saw some listing in ebay for igniters for 1&4 mentioned specifically. SO wanted to confirm before i went and blew something up

Hi

Generally yes you should be fine (can see no reason why not). In theory I suppose they could use a different coil, but that would be a fair waste of money tooling up for something unnecessary.

Depending on the ignition system there might also be a seperate crankshaft pickup for different cylinders.

All the best

Keith

Timing pickup coils (as mentioned by kickstart), plug leads, plug caps, sparkplugs, all the wiring inbetween them.

The only possible difference I could think of would be in the physical shape of the coils for how they attach to the frame. Electrically, they will be identical.

The wires could well be a different colour or they could have numbers stamped on them but the internals should be exactly the same. All the igniter does is produce a spark when it gets a signal from the pulse coil, if you connect it to the other pulse coil, it will do the same thing, just at a different time. (this is an oversimplification for sake of clarity).
