There seems to be a design flaw in my NTV650 (I've checked out a couple of other peoples NTV650s and NTV600s some seem to have this problem some do not) , in that the manual says

"learn how to operate the manual fuel cock while riding so that you do not run out of fuel"

Thing is the design flaw seems to be that the plastic panels of which the fuel cock sticks thorugh is far too small to turn the fuel cock as it turns 1/3 of the way then the plastic stops it going any further so that I need to stop remove the seat , then the panel turn the cock then replace and ride off,

Any suggestions as to what to replace the cock with?

can I just remove the screw and pull it out ?

I sort of had a semi mad idea about using a a small tap from my dad's refurb of the bathroom recently , has a nice chromed look to it. I just want to change it incase I have to use it one day if I have to go on a longer trip since all I do is city riding and theres always a petrol pump somewhere nearby.

Thanks in advance

Hi

Sounds more likely that the fuel tap on your bike is mounted wrongly, or someone has replaced it with one from another bike with the original "handle" attached to it, and so you do not have the positions in the places they were originally designed to be in.

I really cannot see Honda making such a basic mistake.

All the best

Keith
