I think its time for the air filter to be cleaned, hasnt been done for over 2000 miles.

I need an idiot proof guide to cleaning it.

BTW its a spongey type.

Cheers, Nick

The way I did mine (foam sock type) is to wash it in hot soapy water a few times until it is clean. Rinse it out with clean water then while it is still damp put about half an eggcup full of filter oil over it and wring it out.

You get a horrible cloudy looking emulsion of oil and water dripping out of it when you do this. Let the foam dry in the airing cupboard and it leaves a nice thin layer of oil all through the foam without it being overloaded.

Spray it with carb cleaner until soaking and clean it that way, ring it out and spray some filter oil on it then slap it back in

I usually clean it out in a bowl of unleaded, rinse it out then pour a cup full of two stroke on the top covering the whole surface.

If it hasn't been done for 2K miles then what about the rest?
FYI Hein Gericke do an offer with the oil plus air and oil filters so you can do a quick service.
