mornin'

i have the top end off my H100, with the intention of doing a de-coke

the manual says, use a blunt scraping tool

i was hoping someone would be able to supply a "such as", as i havent got a clue what would be effective without causing damage to the bore and stuff.... and any general advice, so i dont cock it up

cheers

Hmmm I usually just use a flat headed screw driver, usually does the trick and carbon comes off pretty easy so you dont have to scrape too hard anyway.

Just get the worst of it off then polish with a cloth.

What Mike said - gently with a screwdriver or even a spoon handle.

Shouldn't be any need to touch the actual bore but if there's a ridge of carbon round the top use a blunt knife.

Spoon sounds like a great idea, then a cloth and some white spirit for the final little clean up.

Open out the end of a bit of copper pipe by cutting a 1/2" slot up one side, peeling the edges out then hammering the resulting 'spoon' flat.

Makes a perfect scraper as the copper is fairly soft but the hammering work hardens it enough to stop it bending too much . Good for scraping off old gasket material too.
