I was just poking around under the fuel tank and noticed that the coolant tank thing (wrapped around the battery) is completely empty! I dont even know what is meant to be in there, can some one tell me what to fill it with please?

Hi

Use a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze. The bottle should not be full, there is a level upper mark about half way up

All the best

yeh there is like a max and min indicator thing on the side of the container.

two questions...

1) where do i get antifreeze from

and

2) would running the bike without antifreeze and water cause damage in any way?

thanks for your reply.

newbie.

Hi

Any bike or car shop will have antifreeze (not the screen was stuff). You want a mixture with water (pure anti freeze and the bike will overheat)

If you run it without any coolant it will overheat. This will probably result in it seizing or warping the head. However, there is a fair amount in the system. The stuff in the header tank is really a "reserve tank", but it isnt a good idea to run with it too empty.

If you use just water as a coolant then it will start to corrode the alloy in the engine, and if it freezes then it is likely to crack various parts of the engine.

All the best

Keith
