|
travelling round a loverly 5 exit round about near goole i was heading for exit 5. Some prick on the inside of me (the lane for exit 1,2 and so on) decided he wanted the one we were just passing, and as his rear passenger door leveled with my right hand he suddenly started to move over to the left, so i dive out of the way and by the time i come to my senses im on the bloody slip road to the M62! (not a big problem i here you say, but im a CBT rider and not allowed)
furious that this nobber has pushed me into an illegal position and that its 5miles to the m18 junction and a further 6 down there to the nearest junction off the motorway i set off on my travels, sticking in the left hand lane and sitting at 55 along with the trucks.
Half a mile away from J5 of the m18 and the blue lights are flashing behind me! B*stard!
I pull over and the officer begins his speech on what the F*ck am i doing on the motorway!
I explained but it seemed very far fetched as far as he was concerned, he escorted me off the motorway and asked me to pull over at a safe location in throne just off the motorway.
he got me say in the car and was explaining the highway code to me and making me feel very thick indeed! This annoyed me as i was there by mistake, then he cracks the scariest words of my riding life!
possible 6 month ban!!
Noooooooo!
I explained over and over, he understood that the roundabout was a strange one and that people get caught out, but this was no excuse!
The real fear was coming now, but then it all changed, He agreed to put the problem down to lack of experience and admitted he didnt really want the paper work for what seemed to be a mistake.
Fweeew, i thanked him and got on my merry way!
The yorkshire lad rides for another day! |

Lucky lad, although it is fustrating when they don't believe what your saying. Good that you got away with it though, but must have been scary going down that motorway expecting a copper to appear. ____________________ Honda MBX50 | Yamaha RD125LC | Suzuki RG125F Lucky Strike | Suzuki GSF600S

It's understanable they wanted to drag you in and ban you for 6 months, put yourself in their shoes 'sorry mate, but you'll never believe this.. I was pushed'.
Glad you got away with it and nothing happened beyond 'naughty boy! this is the highway code ...'
Nice looking bike, how fast does it go? [I'm sure you've tried top speed ] |

Still trying to get my head round your description of what happened here? So he was on the inside of you, and he moved to the left, ie away from you to take his exit, which came up before your exit? Why did you need to "dive" out the way if he was moving away from you, and how did he "push" you?
Sorry if I'm being thick, I really can't see how you did this unless you were going round the roundabout the wrong way! ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

I can only imagine that when he says inside, he means the inside of the corner rather than inside lane? Hence the other driver pulled across him from his right, forcing him left onto the sliproad. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

But he says the guy was on the inside lane for exits 1&2, which sounds like his left!

But the car wasn't on his right, it was on the "inside" of him, ie left.......!
Unless of course the guy was on the inside and didn't turn off at the exit his lane led to, in which case he would continue round on the inside of yorkshirelad and stop him from moving left himself to get to his exit?
Is that what happened? ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

Need Yorkshirelad's input but I think the confusion is caused by | Yorkshirelad3 wrote: | Some prick on the inside of me...his rear passenger door leveled with my right hand... |
So IMO the inside means the inside lane(s) of the roundabout, which would make the car on the right side of the bike. The inside lanes of the roundabout should take you to exits further round. It's the outer ones that spit you out at the next exit. So a car entering the roundabout to turn right and not using the lanes marked would have to cut across traffic to the left to make the exit.
I hope that makes it as clear as mud
<edit>Found what I was looking for, this new fangled interweb net thingy is wonderful
The spiral markings are like that shown in the lower roundabout. Except the junction on the M62 has 5 exits, clockwise from the top would be A614 Rawcliffe, next M62 exit, at the bottom, 6 o'clock the A614 Goole, at 9 o'clock position is the industrial site and finally the slip road onto the M62 westbound (say between 10 & 11 o'clock position). So for example a car entering from A614 Rawcliffe heading for the M62 west exit would cause problems if it didn't move across until the last exit.
