i race minimoto sidecars and have raced in full leathers as well as a minimoto suit which is made of leather and textile. after being punted out of the chair in both suits i would definately opt for leather. the textile on the back of my suit ripped and it was my back protector that saved my skin, although i did find the minimoto suit was easier to get off than leathers before be taken away in an air ambulance......... well i wasn't going to let the hospital cut my suit off
and as demonic69 said get some good boots with protection, i was side swiped on my cbr400 by a minibus, although i sustained a crush injury to my foot my consultant says it was my boots that saved me from getting any broken or bruised bones |

Like most people have said, I prefer to wear leather trousers. Mine are pretty waterproof too (used walking boot dubbing stuff). When I came off they were hardly damaged, and neither was I.
Also, seriously think about getting good boots, and look after them, if you keep them treated and clean, then you won't have any problems with getting wet.
As for staying warm, stick a jumper/stockings/thermal undies on underneath and a fleece on top. ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!
