Whilst bored, i decided to google Supermoto and see what info i could find about the bikes.
Having skimmed through the rest of this forum ive seen that there are alot of people that dont understand what these bikes are, or what changes go into them to make them supermoto, rather than motocross.
This site:
https://www.amadirectlink.com/amrace/2004/news/SmotoBuild.asp
gives a fairly user friendly summary of what changes are made in a pro supermoto bike--a bit hardcore for the average rider ,but shows exactly what chages can be made to the bike and why.

Thought it might be a bit of light reading for you, and maybe clear up some of the confusion Smile Thumbs Up

I always thought that the only difference was that the supermoto had smaller tyres with road legal tread (as apposed to the big knoblies for off roading).

Off the top of my head it is wheels and tyres, gearing, suspension and brakes that make the main differences between the two.

I agree with most of what you've said but what makes you say 'gearing'?

On mine, the manual states that the bike has slightly longer gearing and a chain of a different length when compared to the offroad version. It's probably just my bike though so don't take my word for it.

longer gearing etc, so it doesnt run out of puff/ you dont have to rev the bollocks of it trying to maintain road-speeds for a longer period of time id imagine Question

Yes, shorter chain on the supermoto. And the longer gearing for the road.

My offroader that i just sold had a 72-tooth rear sproket It could not go anywhere fast in first or second gear, but it can climb verticly with ease (trust me, ive done it). But without me on the back.

My Supermoto was geared to do about 80mph flat out when i got her. I changed the sprockets straight away to give the longest gearing i could. Then changed them again and again and again! I've got a total of 16sprockets now Embarassed
I'm very happy with the way it is just now. On the flat it will pull 132mph (speed trap tested) and just runs out of power as you hit the red line in sixth. If you were racing it on a proper supermoto track then you'd want to gear it down again but i'm happy with it the way it is, still wheelies in third on the power and will cruise at 90 without roasting it Thumbs Up

valver, out of interest what is the 0-60 on your husky? has it increased dramatically with gearing?

I've really no idea about the 0-60 but there is very little difference.
I would say 3.5seconds at a guess but i'll have to try it out.
Quicker than my FZR750 and my mates GSXR600 anyway Thumbs Up but maybe slightly slower than my TiLleR was.
