well its time to get a new tyre as my rear one is currently as bald as G.

also getting a new chain and new sprockets. dont have a garage so bike is outside all time so i havnt been at home when its dry to get everything de-gunked and nicely oiled - winter sux w/ no garage.

anyway, i have been quoted £79 for a new rear tyre + labour, balancing etc etc. and £110 for new chain, sprockets and labour.

this is from my local bike garage, its also the only one local.

this, to me, sounds a bit steep, is it? or is it about right?

and i dont know what rear tyre it is but i told them what i have on atm so it should be compatible.

not sure about the tyre on your bike but the price for the chain and sprockets sounds about right

Hi

For an NSR the tyre price is about right. My local cheapy tyre place would want £75~£80 fitted (probably to a loose wheel).

A chain and sprockets are alot cheaper than that. About £40 mail order for non O ring chain with sprocket, maybe £60 for an o ring chain with sprockets. They are not difficult to fit. We fitted a new chain to Dodds old Sym on Annas drive with just a few tools handy when the old one gave up the ghost while he was out.

All the best

Keith
