 |
|
Doing my Das in the next few weeks so have started to shop around for my next bike. Had, on paper decided on a Kawasaki Z750, (£4599) with a a Suzuki Bandit 650S(£4499) as a 2nd choice. Both prices shown are the best I've come across online.
Went into a bike shop today which had both in stock although not at the prices I've shown. Loved the look and seating position of the Kawasaki bu there are no 0% interest deals to be had on this bike like Suzuki are offering for the Bandit. So if I bought the Kawasaki over 3 years it would end up costing about £5150. On the other hand would the residuals be better on the Kawasaki?
The salesman told me they are selling Bandits (and SV650s) like the proverbial hotcakes which to my mind means that in 3 years theres going to be a glut of Suzukis on the 2nd hand market and to boot the trade in value will be awful because Suzuki will want to recoup some of that 0% interest....
Opinions?

Ive just got a SV650S (2 weeks ago) and it was with the Suzuki 0% finance deal they are doing thoughout the UK, bike shop had their own discount on them as well ($4199) plus they had it mis marked at £4099 so i got it even cheaper! shame the insurace cost a bomb with me only being 19 and all...
but the SV is a very good bike, lots of low rev torque, and looks very well made. not had any rattels, anything shakeing or anything yet.
i cant say anything abotu the Bandit as ive not looked at one, but i assume they are like the SV but with more power (with itbeing an L4) but less torqe, also have to rev it higher for the power to kik in. Personaly i prefer to not have to rev the crap out of it to get anywhere fast. will be even better derestrcited ____________________ Anyone stupid enough to think we will drag a load of wooden horses full of soldiers into our city is certanley stupid enough to drag all of ours into theirs! |

Just bought (3 weeks ago) my sv650s from York suzuki on 0% finance. I think the 0% is first class as it means I can actually afford a decent bike I just don't have £4000 ready cash on hand (plus extra for insurance!) to afford a half decent second hand bike.
As it is, i paid £1000 deposit, then its just £150 a month for two years and thats it.... no big final payment, no restrictions on insurance and oh yes, I got the official suzuki belly pan, seat cowl and hugger thrown in for free. The catch? Yes I did have to pay the full rrp of £4600 but once you work out the cost of the accessories... ( https://www.suzuki-gb.co.uk/access.asp?m=24&l= )....
According to my dealer the reason for suzuki doing 0% is not so much to boost sales (the SV and Bandit are already top 10 sellers) but because the manufacture is very worried about how many bikers there will be on the roads in 10 years time. There are just not enough young people getting into biking to safe-guard its future at the moment - quite worrying really
I wouldn't worry about second hand prices to much, it's not just how many are on the road that determines a bike's price, but it's individual condition.
Finally, have you test rode the bandit? I would say it just wasn't playing the same ball game as the z750. The z750 is a pure hooligans machine whilst the bandit has slipped to much down the commuter role to rival it any more.
The SV650s is a hoot to ride and has loads more torque than the bandit and is certainly more fun on the twisties, but is still 30hp behind the Z (hence the SV's group 10 insurance and the Z's 13 ) |

Ive just purchased a brand new dl650 from stamford superbikes on the 0% deal. If it wasnt for good deals like these i wouldnt be able to afford a decent new bike, or at least i'd be paying more per month on a personal loan. And the bike was already discounted from the rrp, i intend to keep the bike for over 3 years so the deal is perfect for someone like me who is crap at saving. ____________________ Cbr1100xx blackbird gone, mk4 golf gt tdi chav now

Brilliant repies from all of you fellas, thanks very much
My credits fine so will shop around for a deal.
On a side note I love reving the nuts of an engine. Owned Honda V-Tec cars up until now and I love having to work the engine, makes you feel so in contact with what you are driving....
