Hi all, got a SR125, and having trouble getting 2nd gear. 1st gear and neutral no probs. but when pulling away in 1st, and flicking up for 2nd, the bike goes into neutral, and won't go into 2nd. Feels like the level won't move up.

Its a bit of a hit and miss affair, I pull away in 1st, clutch in, flick the lever up, get neutral, try flicking up again and it feels like something is stopping the lever going up. I release the clutch, then pull it back in and try again, same problem. I then drop into 1st gear and try again, still the same problem. Other times no problem with the gears. Any ideas? Question

Cheers

If the linkage is adjustable, make sure its adjusted to be comfortable.

I'd also give it an oil change, to see if that helps, and be more positive in your gear changes. If you are riding in trainers or normal boots, bike boots make gear changes much easier.

Also make sure your chain tension is right - A sloppy chain makes gear changes feel shit and sloppy, a properly tensioned chain gives you nice tight positive gearchanges.

linkage?I'm new to biking Sad please forgive my ignorance. I thought that oil may come into it and have just filled up to the top, hopefully that'll solve one problem. As for being more positive with gear changing I think that is taken as ok, I wear he correct footwear (seems like for a 125 I overdress Smile) I will check the chain tightness first thing.

I much appreciate your reply, and will get back once I've gone through everything you have mentioned.

once again thank for the advice.
