Why is insurance so much in ireland?
My mate from ireland used to have loads of bikes over there not sure if he insured them though
he had a rs125
rs250
some yamaha
cbr600
just move to england and get one Wink

the insurance is high for loads of reasons
the main one is lawyers, every claim has to go thru a claims lawyer, and ireland has a culture of claims, its easy to get 10,000 euro for nothin, and lawyers fees are incredibly high
also there is basically no competition, and the insurance companies are pricks

another one of the main reasons why the insurance is so high is becuase the government thinks that if they have it really high it will keep young drivers off the roads because they think they cause too many accidents.

Batman r u still driving your rs125?
I live in Dublin aswell. I live in Dundrum

If money was no object i would get an RS125 now! But i can only afford group 2 insurance at the most which means the NSR75 would be my best bet, cos i dont like TDR's. I am only 19 so i would get ripped off on the insurance on anything bigger. How old are u? I wouldnt like to be paying for insurance on a RS125 over here tho!

Cool. When do u reckon u will b gettin it? U gonna get it new or second hand?

Even tho i didnt get the money i needed to get the nsr 75 i am still coming up wit ideas on how to get it.......not workin out very well at the moment but if they do work out i will buy a second hand bike for about €1500. If the plans dont work out i will probably buy my moped a powerpipe and new gloves and a new visor or sumthing!

No point getting TPFT anyway, it's either TPO or Fully Comp. If it gets nicked on TPFT they screw you over anyway. My uncle had his gsxr600 nicked and the insurance company wouldn't pay out because he said he had an oxford disklock on it (which he did) and they wouldnt pay out because he didn't have a reciept for it. Save the money you would pay for fire and theft and get some beefy locks is what I say.

Well, I dont always agree on that.

If you pay say £3000 for a bike, and then £700 on TPFT you will have a good saving if the bike gets nicked

Does the theft bit cover you for any damage caused when the bike is stolen?

you cant get third party fire and theft in ireland
either tpo or fully comp, fully comp is impossible as its twice what tpo is, and tpo is probably roughly ten times what u pay over there
