What's the deal with this? I see adverts describing some trials bikes as road registered, but they don't seem to have indicators, number plates etc. Are they road legal?

I have a 2000 Gas Gas TXT 280 that sits at my Ma's in Scotland and never seems to get used anymore.

If I can use it on the road, I may bring it down to London for occasional use when I'm in the mood...and go everywhere on one wheel - back wheel away from the lights, front wheel up to the lights Very Happy

Road registered just means that it comes with a V5, it doesn't mean that the bike's road legal. Smile

Trials bikes can be used on the road, its like enduro mx bikes, don't have to have indicators just rear brake light, a stickon number plate (its just a yellow sticker with your reg on), and day time MOT.
I have a seen road reg trials bike before, thing is insurance on converted off road bikes is high as the insurance companies don't like them.

I'd have loved to put my old RM125 on the road, bloody thing would wheelie in 5th on the powerband! Would have had to do something about the drum brakes though.

Wow... A proper trial bike like a gas gas or something without a seat on the road would be awesome... and with supermoto wheels/tyres maybe?

Thats an awesome idea, I may do that when I have a bit of spare cash! Imagine at the lights you would have to stand there lol!

Max speed of 30mph aint that awesome Confused - being able to go over the cars rather than filter could be more fun though Smile.

I mean when I have my full licence...

Only a few months then I can get rid of the L plates, the 50cc and the ped-boi/chav image that goes with them!

Thanks Tater... methinks a plan is coming together

Supermoto tyres would make it a lot of fun, though I'm not sure I would be able to balance at a standstill without my soft, fat trials tyres.

I reckon my bike will do about 50-55mph if you wring it, 30 is a cruise!

Would sure put that Yamaha Trixster (or whatever it is) in its place Very Happy
