Ok, as you may have read, my clutch cable snapped on my way to work oon tuesday morning. But now i have the bike back ive noticed that even when i physically push/pull the linkage where the cable ends, and goes into the gearbox, i cannot get the clutch to disengauge! this ment starting the bike in neutrol, rolling it down the road, and bumping it into 1st to get up my estate hill lol, But to make matters worse, i have my 1st bike lesson on monday!! Any ideas on what may be wrong? ____________________ My Bikes - - - Royal Enfield 500 with sidecar, VFR800, CBR600FX,

Sounds like your clutch plates could be stuck together, or if there is free paly in the cable it may just need adjusting. It should have a quarter inch of freeplay at the handlebars.
If the freeplay is OK try this:
Pull clutch in, start the engine, walk the bike, put it in gear, ride it & change up to 2nd, pull in the clutch, open and close the throttle very sharply with the rear brake on. If the plates are stuck that should free them, but you may have to do it about 6-7 times to finally jar them loose.
Let me know if it doesn't work, as your clutch thrust bearing may be worn & need replacing. ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |
