Well, I'm just about to try and get a month's insurance with ebike so I can take out the insurance for the RS250 and use it to get to work, since the NSR is beginning to get on my nerves with its cutty-outness and lack of power.
Now EBI have two ways of paying:
1. set up a direct debit (make the first payment by card)
2. set up to have your credit card automatically debited.
Now my dad's not happy about paying for the insurance if I give him the cash (because I don't have a credit/debit card), his main concern is that only the business taking out the direct debit can cancel one (which presumably means after you cancel the policy they keep charging you for thin air or whatever), and has presented me with a few terms and conditions, not the least of which being "you don't ride the bike until you receive the paperwork", which more or less negates the point of immediate cover.
That aside, is there any other site where I can take out PAYG insurance for one month for the RS until I switch over to a 12 month TPFT policy?
If it wasn't for this stupidity, I'd have the RS parked outside my work already . What can you lot say to put my dad's mind at rest . ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/nsrandy/96rs250/ My Bike!

Yeah, I spent a while looking round last night and the internet wasn't having any of it. "pay as you go insurance OTHER THAN Ebike?! HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!! "
So now we've determined that Ebike seem to be the only company out there and that other insurance companies will ream me on refunds (to cancel a £330 policy 7 months into the policy results in me only getting £54 back - not worth losing my NCB for.
Which reminds me. If I have two policies running alongside each other, do I get my 2 year's no claims from the NSR policy and a third one feb 07 after the policy expires and the RS policy is in effect?
That aside, can we debate the stupidness of running a bike WITH insurance but before the cover note arrives. I think it's stupid to keep the bike chained up until the cover note arrives.
Something else I also debate, re: the tax issue.
the bike is uninsured and untaxed, and will be showing as such on the DVLA computers. When the bike gets changed into my name, i will get a fine for not taxing it/declaring it SORN. Therefore, once I'm insured, what is the possible harm in riding it untaxed if I'm going to get a fine whether i keep it on my drive or not?
What's to stop me just being able to take out insurance at midnight and go to work on the bike at 7am.
I say nothing

Yeah, you'll get your double ncb. How long is left on your NSR policy? is it not worth taking out a new policy on both bikes?

Word of warning, make sure you decline legal cover. Even if they say "it's free" I had it with one of the peds insurance policies, cancelled it 2 months later, and had the legal cover deducted. They then decided I HAD, infact, paid for it, even though they'd reassured me it was free and nothing would be taken out the refund.
I spent £250 on that policy, and got all of £85 back (cheque still yet to arrive). I'm not very good at arguing my case, so I'll take it as a warning this time, but won't make the same mistake again.
