What do you do after laquering body panels, do you need to polish it? or rub it down.

Thanks
Dan

Hi Dude

I usually do the same with Lacquer as I do with spray paint... lots of very light/thin layers and sand down any runs in between... takes ages but you'll get good results.

Also just do light brtush stroke like lines all one way...

Good luck

when i re-sprayed my pannels i had a similar problem

after i'd applied the top coat of colour i laqured it, but kept noticing that there were shiny parts and dull parts, and a few runs where it'd gone on too thick

best thing to do is to scrub the laqure back with 1200 wet dry and then wash the pannels down, then spray a very thin coat of laqure over and see what it looks like

then spray a thicker layer on a inconspicous part and see what that looks like ( not too close, hold the can at least 1 1/2 foot away)

after thats dried take your can of laqure and go crazy. give it a good thick coat all over so it looks wet. leave for at least an hour, then do the same again. (when i say wet i mean a shiny look, should be tacky to the touch but not dripping) make sure your moving you arm across evenly and not just shaking your hand as this causes soggy drippin spots (imagine waving slowly to someone and thats the motion you want)

leave over night then repeat

this way you have 2 heavy coats on top of each other which when dried completely (3 to 4 days usually) looks even through out

i did this with my pannels and it looked fine, even now after 3 months they looks spot on

Don't bother lacquering if your using cans, pointless, just looks cloudy...

Just flat the top coat of paint back with 1500 wet and dry, and get some T cut or rubbing compound on it, and polish like a slut....
