Tinted visors are illegal, but widely used, and you won't get a huge amount done to you if you are caught.

Good luck with the case. Thumbs Up

I thought a black tinited visor is road legal, when i brought mine it said it was for road use in daylight only, but i know the blue, silver, gold etc iridium visors are illegal.

Get a tinted visor for the summer - it is much safer and I have never heard of anyone getting grief from the police for it.

The percent refers to how much light they allow in. 20% tint is seriously dark, and 80% tint is quite light.

I have a road legal tinted visor on my Shoei with tinted Pinlock visor insert that makes it a bit darker, but I will get a dark tint eventually.

Personally I would rather buy a tinted visor than DIY.

You can get the tinted 'inserts' which are cut to shape for about £12 or so. I used to have one in my old helmet & it worked OK, but you can't exactley just take it out at night as it loses its stickyness.
I've just bought a iridium visor off ebay for £36.99 inc postage. They are about £60+ in the shops, so I'm happy. Smile ...well... I will be when it arrives!

Hi

The legal amount of tint is a tiny amount (you can quite easily see the face of someone wearing one).

Chances of getting legal problems with a tinted visor if used sensibly are minimal, but remember that if they feel like it then they can do you for it. Also you are likely to get done if you wear one at night.

You can get "race" visors which are tinted on Ebay. It is difficult to get shops to sell you them as trading standards got arsey about it a couple of years ago.

All the best

Keith

yeah iv had a few LOOKS! from feds(police to the others who say "THERE NOT FEDS" Rolling Eyes )

cause i dont think they like it but SO many bikers have them & they ARE good for sunny days they dont really bother there more bothered about if the bikes legit, etc & maybe even the pipe & number plate

as for night riding i still normally keep my visor down UNLESS its TO dark to see though then i'll lift it up also sometimes if i see feds @ night i'll lift it then aswell

but to the main question of this post get a proper visor not insert & you'll be fine 99% of the time i found with my insert 1 i had that if it steamed up u couldnt just wipe it cause the steam would also b inbetween the insert & visor aswell which you just cant wipe properly

Always wear my arai with dark tint, but I carry a clear one with me as well.
It is illegal but as has been said you're unlikely to get pulled for that alone. I've filtered past plenty of police with my dark tint and can rasping away..... Thumbs Up
