So.. who's up for entering the Weston beach race next year? My idea was to stick our names down here, then once we race we can post the finish results up into a "BCF League" and see who places where etc.. Just a bit of fun, and motivation for getting fit enough to ride it?

Sort of a bet.. who will enter and not die?!? Laughing

So, if you're up for it, stick your name down.. you have 1 year to train and practice Wink

Maybe we could make it a competion, with small (just for fun) prizes of some sort going to 1st 2nd and 3rd place of the BCF results table??

Basically I thought of this as motivation to get fit, now that I got my KTM back I got no excuse not to get muddy!! A competiton is more than enough motivation to get fit Wink

I will create a proper entry table nearer the time, we got a year to go, seems a long way, but when you consider how fit you need to be etc then it doesn't seem such a bad idea to start with the planning/training now Wink

If I have a bigger bike by then, count me in Very Happy.

I take it you're using dirt bikes? I'm on a poxy 125 4t at the moment, but wait until I get my XR400 Twisted Evil.

I'm up for it Thumbs Up.

What bikes are you all going to be riding? If i could possibly enter it on a cheap field bike e.g. a DT125 brought off ebay nice and cheap, then fair enough. But if only a proper crosser or enduro tool is likely to make it around the course, then i doubt i could afford to buy a bike just for this event. And if i did buy a full on crosser, what would i do with it afterwards? Please don't say throw it in the sea, as im thinking along the lines of another project! Idea

Stevo, as far as I know we'll be using enduro bikes.

Korn will probably be using his YZ426 (or is it a 450?).

Sparks! has a KTM500 (I think) so i'm guessing he'll be using that.

Spitfire has a KLX250.

Not sure what G has.

and i'll be using either a KLX250 or a XR250.

oh well, it's just i was thinking of buying a very cheap rough looking kmx125 for spares, and i already have quite a few spare kmx parts like wheels, plastics, a fuel tank etc, so if i could have got a tatty kmx up and running, i was thinking of using that. A decent proper enduro bike in useable condition would be at least £1000, more likely £1500 tho. And i don't want to spend that kind of money on a bike id probably not want to use much.
It's still a cracking idea a BCF beach race team, but don't think too much about it as it would be easy to chicken out, thinking about how many bikes don't make it past the first turn before they and their riders get run over by 200 other nutters!
p.s. The big advantage i reckon is an electric start, as after an hour of racing, trying to kick over a tempermental big thumper, or even worse trying to light up a tired or flooded stroker, is nearly enough to kill you, and thats before the long push back to the pits!
