Hi peeps, I am looking at a kx60 tomorrow for the kids xmas present.

The guy has it advertised as a 2002 model.

Is there any way of confirming this? either by looking at the frame no. or engine no?

Where are these numbers on a kx?

Failing that is there any other obvious checks I can do to make sure it is the year he says it is?

Also, are there any points I should look out for that these bikes are prone to failure?

Or is it the usual shocks / sound of the bike running etc...?

Any help appreciated....

Cheers,

Slavo

Might not be of much help but but anyway.. How old are your kids, and have they ridden before?

The kx 60 is not a toy, it'll throw you off the back with no fuss at all if you're unlucky. Mine does about 45/50 with me on it but it gets there pretty damn fast, and it'll wheelie in third.

Its caught me out a few times, and i have the scars to prove it.

If they are new/not that confident, then i would suggest you get some form of restrictor for it, atleast until they are used to it.

I know exactly how powerful they are Laughing

I used to ride a kx80/100/125

I learnt the hard way Smile

They have been riding a blata minimoto (obviously completely different) and are used to the speed...

but nobody rides off-road and doesn't fall off!
It's the way you learn.

Chassis number is towards the rear of the steering bearings. Where the frame is welded to the steering.

To check its 2002. Get on google and search for it, then just compare the fairings, graphics obvious stuff like that.

Hint for the young'uns, if they are new to it, start in 2nd forget 1st until later. I found out the hardway.

Thumbs Up
