1999 R6 insurance quotes for me and where I live

TPO £418.00 with NO EXCESS!!!!!
TPFT£603 with £400 Excess
Full Comp £ wait for it..........................

£1814 with £600 Excess!!!!!!!

Just shows the difference - thing is a 99 R6 is worth about £3K-4K depending on condition - do I want to insure TPO with such a nickable bike???????

Only day dreaming - I couldn't really get one but it just shows the difference between insurance specs.

It isn't that great when they then stick a £400 excess on it!!!!
TPO price is fantastic but I couldn't leave a £4K bike alone with TPO insurance on it!!!!

That's still not bad, if it gets nicked then you may be losing £400 but you still get £3100 or whatever... if you're cheeky and blag a bit on the number of miles it's done that probably means you can get a bike in similar condition to teh one that you lost.

TPO never has an excess chunkie. That TPFT quote sounds fairly reasonable to me, I wouldn't wanna insure a 4grand R6 TPO for sure.

To be straight - I'd prefer fullycomp on a bike that value - if I come off, I can't afford to repair it myself - I'd take the punishment on the insurance the year after or just not bother taking the risk in buying the bike first - I REALLY WANT ONE Though!!!

26, 0 NCB, sort of Garaged but I always say it is for insurance.

Also only had license since december (DAS) and postcode WN72AN - medium risk area with no 'discounts'

I would say the majorit of damage you coul;d do would be under £1400, in the worst case you can always break the rest and probably make more than the bike value minus £1400.... There will probably be a dair hike in you premium's the year after as well.

If you do stuff like fit crash protectors or aftermaket fairings you can probably save a bit more, even if you do crash.

I did think of doing a set of aftermarket fairings and having it just plain blue rather than using the originals.

That way you can either sell the originals if the worst does happen, or replace them in prisine condition when you sell and sell the aftermarket ones.

well you just don't bin the bike in first place saves the hassle of changing everything because you'll end up changing the frame "incase" you crash.... Rolling Eyes Laughing

Well, I wish I'd done that Razz.... and it's not always something that could be avoided (I seem to remember you had a little incident recntly Razz Confused)

I'm suggesting the fairing because it's realitvly high value for what it it: the fairing on the zx6 would definatley cost a lot more than the frame, yet is easy to change. |It's also the bit most likley to be damaged when you drop pretty muich any fairerd bike.

At the end of the day, none of us are going to drop the bike on purpose but you have to take into account diesel spills, idiots doing hit and runs, dogs running out, kids throwing stuff..... need I go on.

I wouldn't get a faired bike at the price the R6's are and then 'hope' I didn't drop it!!!

imo, you can only take so much precortion (sp) against shit happening. Shit happens, and always will Sad A good set of mushrooms and the like will help major damage hopefully, but do you buy a nice shiney R6 to look at it or to ride it and enjoy it?

Defo to ride it but I don't want to lose a shed load of money IF the worst does happen - you or your parents may be rich enough to do this but I ain't!!!!!!!!!!

Fit some protectors and hope for the best. I work on the basis that I'd rather take the cash hit *if* my bike gets stacked, rather than take the cash hit of fully comp, which you pay whether you bin it or not. And face it, bikes are a lot hardier than we give them credit for, so you might crack the fuck outta the fairings but you can gaffa them up and still ride it until you have the money to do something about it Smile

Deffo TPFT it - anything over about £2k I would - but the 'I'd say it was garaged for insurance' comment worries me. Basically, if you say it's garaged and it gets nicked from your road, you may well not get a penny. So don't lie about that, otherwise you may as well take the TPO.

My bike is sorta garaged - it isn't a garaged but it is in a locked area with a roof - sort of a lean-to attached to the house.
