Anyone rebuilt kawaski ER5 forks. How much oil do i put in and how should i "measure" the level??? they are pretty basic non adjustable forks. Any CORRECT info and i will owe you a pint! cheers

not sure about how to overhaul them but the oil level is usually measured from the top of the fork tube to the oil when the spring is removed and only the damper rod is installed.

usually about 450cc is needed per fork

pour about 400cc in and pump the damper rod until its full of oil (you'll be able to feel the difference) then pump the fork tube in the slider about 10 times

wait 10 mins for oil to settle then measure. on my thundercat its 137mm from the top of the tube but yours will prolly be different. add or subtract oil till u get it right

thanks. Understand 100% what you are on about. Problem is.....the ER5 forks are SO very basic that the top of the fork does NOT come apart to measure a level. Any oil filling must be from the bottom and the forks inverted (off the bike!). Basic stuff but ill try what you suggest . Cheers anyway.
