I've just received my bulletcam through the post today. For those of you that have bulletcams - how do you attach it to your bike? I want to put it on the tank somewhere so that I can see both the road and the speedo.

Get the speedo in shot and it makes it very, very easy to prosecute. And the screen's usually annoying when watching it.

Also seems to spoil the point of having a bullet cam, as it's not much more subtle than a normal camera once you've raised it high enough to see the road.

If you do want to go this way, foam and electrical tape will probably do it.

Try one of those double sided velcro things i belive it can be easily removed and it should hold it where you want it and not create a problem in removing.

I use pipe insulation (get long tubes of it from B&Q) to wrap round the camera then gaffa tape or cable ties to attach it.

The foam protects it a bit if you drop it, gives the cable ties something to grip and you can cut it to fit better on a curve if need be.

I've wondered about this. If a copper pulls you over and sees that you have a bulletcam - can he insist on seeing the contents of the tape? If so, what if you turned around and said that there was footage of you and your missus getting it on - surely he's got no right to insist on seeing this? Is this a way out of showing him the contents of the video?

He can insist if he thinks a crime has been commited (including speeding), the cam can be used as evidence against you. Shocked

Don't know the specific laws, but basicially if he believes there's evidence of a crime being commited on there, yes, I believe so.

If you leave your dirty videos on there, expect then to get a bigger audience when they play them back at the police station.

But unless he can prove 100% that you had commited a crime, how can he have the right to insist on seeing footage of you and your girlfriend having sex? Who has that right? I think if I did have dirty videos on there - I would tell him "no chance", and deal with being prosecuted for withholding evidence Confused In real life I would actually use a completely different tape for my *cough*home videos*cough*, so all this is just theoretical. Just wondering what would happen, that's all.

Lets say the crime was slightly more serious.
Lets say instead that someone else had a video and it was of your girlfriend being raped. How would you feel if they could just say "sorry, can't see it mate, do me for withholding evidence".

I'm really not that up on such things, but if he suspects there may be evidence of a crime being commited, he is well within his rights to take possesion of it.

I'll probably move it around depending on what mood I'm in. One thing I wanna do at some point is have it facing the speedo - then from standstill, boot it as fast as I can to 60. Then on my computer, if I clip of the front part of the movie until right when I set off, I can easily see my 0-60 time. Obviously this is only as accurate as my speedo - but it's a good way of DIYing a 0-60 test.

I'll have a proper play around with the bulletcam on Sunday. Tomorrow's NEC day Very Happy Thumbs Up Taking both the camcorder and digicam - so hopefully will have some good footage to post Thumbs Up

But the crime isn't more serious. The copper has pulled you over - there has been no accidents - no one was hurt - and he has no real proof that a crime has been committed. Imagine there was bedroom footage - and you hadn't been speeding - so you had done absolutely nothing wrong. Morally, what gives him the right to insist on viewing the tape? I've no idea what the law states - I'm just saying it's very wrong if a copper has the right to take the tape of you.

Went for the Camera 5 Package 5. Bare in mind though that the prices do not include VAT.

Because he believe a crime has been commited and believe that they can prove that a crime has been commited if he sees this evidence.

What should and shouldn't be a crime is another matter however.

The law doesn't really differentiate much, as I had a slight argument with someone over:
You can't be 'only slightly illegal', so the police still have the power to take it off you, whatever they think you might have done.

Sorry to hijack this thread but could anyone tell me, is it actually illegal to have a camera mounted to the bike??? I've got a camera mount for a standard video camera which "suckers" onto the tank, can I get done for having it there?? Obviously if I'm speeding then that would be dodgy as the coppers would be able to suss out from the video footage but if I wasnt speeding then no crime has been committed...... correct?? Confused

You've seen how I have mine, but when the bulletcam is mounted on the tank you can't see the speedo on my bike (the inition key is in the way!)

Are you going to mount the camera itself on the tank? I seem to remember that you can only fit a packet of chewing gum under your seat!

Seems good if you have a scoop like that (kawasaki ninjas, yes?) but wouldn't it get an awffy lot of vibration on the bike like that?

On my sv I drilled four holes under the nose cone fairing then secured the camera with cable ties.

Might have got some good footage if the memory card hadn't had an error and filled up way before it should Doh!.
