Binned my ZXR today

After getting my bike finished and charged up (chain and sprockets installed and battery fully charged so that it actually now started), i took her for a ride down the A6 in order to see if anything else needed doing. I went abound the back side of quorn and took a roundabout at a steady pace, 10mph not hanging off or kneedowning, when next thing i knew the bike slid from underneath me.

I skidded about 10 metres down the road and the bike skidded in a different direction, eventually facing back the way it came. Possible suspect, diesel! The passer by who wanted to phone the police to investigate was really helpful, picking up whatever bits of plastic fell off my bike, unlike that cunt of a Beemer rider who just wanted to rag the shit out of his 170mph machine!

Damage done:

FUCKED right hand side fairing (already fucked in the first instance, just did a job of double fucking it!). It's just grazed along a diagonal axis and since it was dropped previously, the bits that took the damage previously simply fell off.

The exhaust was scuffed, so i'm trying to polish it out but all i'm getting is a brushed look to it, which i don't really mind. The can is a bit compressed towards the front so it's more of an elliptical shape!

Broken brake lever, which fucked me right off. I had to ride back using only engine braking, and i was actually dumb enough to stop in town to resume my shopping!

Leathers thankfully did the job. I was actually thinking about going my textiles and jeans but thank god i didn't! Did not feel a hint of pain - Great job hein gericke!

So the question now is, I've got a gap in my upper fairing that needs filling. I lost the fragment of plastic that should sit in its place so temporarily i'm using gaffa tape.

Can anybody suggest suitable methods to gap plastic so i can paint over and be specific about the product, like name and possibly where i can get it from. I'm not going to worry about the paint as i intend to give it a respray over the summer. I invisage a manga electric black and silver scheme, but more about that later.

In short, i'm fine, bike's mechanically fine, cosmetically the right side is in the SHIT, left side pristine. Shame i can't find any fairing protectors for the ZXR250!

How about using gaffer tape for now? And remember crash bungs are meant to protect the frame and not the fairings.

Sorry to hear that mate, i just came off my bike on sunday but luckily have meet some well nice guys who are going to repair my fairings for me.

What you want to do is tie the fairing in place so it does not move then fibre glass it together from the back filling the gap, about 9 layers of the thin stuff then buy some UPOL for the front ask at your local hardware store for that.

Then sand down the UPOL so the gap is completly smooth, then find a panel and touch up paint shop (yellow pages), they will be able to give you an exact color match and a clear coat about £30 for the paint and a tenner for the fibre glass etc.

Spray it yourself, then clear coat and you should be able to get it looking brand new.

that pretty much sux!!

if your exhaust is stainless, and want it polished up, if you trust me and dont mind waiting a few days i could get it back to its former glory, polished to!! no brushed look.

Sorry to hear it, at least the damage is only cosmetic though...

If you want to repair the fairing, take a trip to halfords, and invest in a fibreglass repair kit, or buy the sheeting and resin separately.
