I have a slight problem with the fuel rail on an '02 TT600. The connector on the end of the flexible fuel hose which plugs into the tank is broken, I believe I can get the part. However the clips that hold the hose to the fuel rail and connectors are some sort of alien things that cannot be undone. They are permanently crimped. So are there any specialists that deal with this sort of thing? would a bike shop have the tool required OR would a jubilee clip hold it; the manual states that the fuel is at 3 bar.

Confused

Hi

Sounds like normal crimp on connectors. I would be tempted to replace them with hose clamps (make sure you get the ones for fuel injection pipe, they have a curved edge to avoid damaging the pipe).

However I have a feeling that this might be a recall job. I know there was a problem on the TT600 with one of the fuel pipe connectors and Troumph replaced them (think even out of warrenty) so you might well be able get it done for free.

Hopefully MarJay can confirm / deny this.

All the best

Keith

Ah excellent, probably worth going straight to a local triumph dealer then.

Keith and Mr Jamez,

No. The fuel connector recall was for the plastic ones on the tank (that still needs to be done on John's bike...)

However I can't remember exactly how the fuel rail connector is done... could you possibly attach a pic? I can't be arsed to get my airbox and tank off to see... Wink

[EDIT] the recall is still done out of warranty, it just needs a frame number. Additionally the bolt through the top of the shock needs removing and turning the other way. This is also a recall as it can rub on the wiring loom unless swapped over.

Piccy. That plugs straight into the tank, the other end is crimped directly onto the fuel rail.

Hi

To me that looks like the connector on the tank that MarJay describes.

All the best

Certainly looks like the connector that broke in Scotland.

Especially prone to break in cold weather. It should be done as a recall, and they replace it with non auto sealing anodised quick release connectors. Basically, when you disconnect them, the fuel still flows.

The recall can be checked out via frame number, and so a Trumpet dealer should either be able to supply the parts for free or do the work. I expect they will want to change the rear shock top bolt too.

My advise is to take the tank and broken fittings to Hughenden M40 (or maybe On Yer Triumph, but they 'claimed for' my part when they hadn't done the work....). Don't mention the bike has had a new engine and is unfaired. They don't need to know.

The shock bolt needs to have the nut taken off, the bolt inserted from the opposite direction, and then the nut put back on the other side (obviously!).

Luckily the connectors you mention *are* the warranty one, so I'm breathing a sigh of relief.
