does it do it in all gears? ie when you go into 4-5 and be hard on the throttle does the bike's revs soar more than normal?

Hi

Is it staying in the power band when you change up at that point? Have a feeling it might just be dropping out of the power band and then not have enough power to maintain the speed.

1983 model would be an early RG without a power valve I think, so there will be a large difference between in the power and out of it.

Getting on a bit, possibly needing new pistons and a good service would make this problem worse.

All the best

Keith

Hi

Needle only really affects the mixture in the mid range. However running lean on a 2 stroke tends to result in rather sudden and disasterous engine problems.

All the best

No there isn't. Restriction didn't start till 1989.

Hi

Even if it was restricted then the restrictions came in at 112mph / 180kmh, a long way after this one is flat out (although the CBR250 seems to have an anti tamper device so that if you disconnect the speedo it limits the performance even more).

The mixture screws only really affect the mixture at very limited throttle openings. The jet that mainly affects the mixture on full throttle is the main jet which cannot be adjusted, you just have to substitute larger ones in their place.

All the best

Keith
