Hi

Not sure, but fairly certain you cannot go through France legally.

All the best

Hi

Yep (along with plenty of other countries, some without helmets or registrations), and a 125 at 16 I think. However you have to be over 18 for a bike over 125cc.

Germany has some odd restrictions too (such as automatic chain oilers like Scott Oilers not being allowed, although not sure how that applies to tourists).

All the best

Keith

Hi

You could wait, but as above you could get the ferry to the Netherlands.

Found this on driving ages:-

hmm, but it says Netherlands is the same, min age 18

anyone else driving there, they are evil on speed cameras and fines. anything from 54kmh in a 50 zone and they WILL send fines on to you in the UK or anywhere else. lots of combined red light/speed cameras too
edit: this site says min age in germany is 17

france holland and belgium seem to all be over 18 only. tough luck!! Wink

I spoke to my uncle in who lives in Germany and is into motorbikes.
He said that if i am legally allowed to ride a uk bike in the uk, then if i go to Germany riding this uk bike i am allowed to ride. But if i was to be riding a German bike or have residence in germany then i would have to go by there riding laws.
As i have a license and insurance in the uk i am legal to ride in those countrys.
Can any one else confirm this?

Doesn't ring true to me, otherwise it would say on the Green Flag link that Keith provided. That, after all, is a UK website.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Entirely possible. Depends on German law, but I know that used not to apply in France (and as far as I know still does not).

Mind you I once saw a load of French kids on mopeds in Portsmouth. About 14 years old, not registration plates, etc. Totally illegal in the UK but they seemed to have got away with it.

All the best

Uhmm... how long do you have to have held your license for before you can ride in another country? I know for cars its quite strict; like you have to be 21 or over to drive in another country... is this true?

I've only had my full license for about 1 and a half months, been on provisional for nearly 2 years, could i ride in europe?

I'm 19 years old...
