Sounds good to me. A later start time would be good for me in order to give time for me to get down there.

Yeah but theres no way I'd make it from London to Brighton on a push bike Shocked also worth noting that when you get to Brighton your car is in London so you gotta cycle back as well! Laughing

It's around 60 miles as mentioned, assume you cycle at an average of 15mph (which is fairly reasonable) then it will take you around 5 hours accounting for stops. On open roads in nice weather sitting at 20mph isnt too much of a problem for me so I may well be cycling home anyway.

More likely I'll get someone to pick me up from Brighton, simple.

@Illusion, I was thinking of an 8 o'clock start time if possible, earliest is at 6:30 and latest at 9:30.

I suggest everyone sends off for their entry forms ASAP then fill out all they can (not the team part yet) and wait until the 15th of Jan when all the team stuff should be sorted.

Anyone else coming?

If anyone is willing to give me a lift from the North Wales area I'm definatley up for it otherwise I can't really get down because I can't drive and I havn't found any good ways of getting a pushbike on the back of a motorbike yet.

Erm, can you not just download the entry form from the website Confused.

I downloaded, printed off, started filling in then came to the team bit and thought 'ah team'.

I was thinking that we could maybe smile nicely at someone to follow us in the van, though of course that wouldn't be able to take all the people, but would take the bikes.

I'm sure you can get a push bike on the back of a klr Smile.

If you can get to Reading by train and if I'm taking the van you can at least stick ya' bike in there.
Or convince someone from your way to do it Smile.

As that's the case, shall we say try and get final numbers for the 10th (is a bit short notice I know). Hopefully can add more if they come later.

From what I heard you really do want to get entries in as soon as possible.

I've got no problem with that date, anyone else can still enter as one person and then just wear a BCF shirt I suppose.

As it is going to be entered as a team one person is going to be receiving a pack of what to do. I will loose it in the mess that passes as my cubby hole of a room. So are you able to deal with that? I assume it will come with some bits of paper for sponsorship form's. Also read on the site that an online donation page can be set up which may be useful.

I doubt you will, and I doubt I will either.

So I've put a post-it note on my screen and bookmarked the page. Yes I have seriously done that. Laughing

Any suggestions how? I quite fancy this team BCF malarkey Smile.

I thought of using one of those metal frame rucksacks and clamping the frame to it and sticking the wheels on the bike somewhere but I doubt that would be too comfortable on a 230 mile ride to Reading at 2am!

So to sum up/few questions to ask:

- The above people need to confirm by the 10th
- Send off applications then or very soon after
- Our team name is BCF Racing
- Our team leader is G (does the application require a full name?)
- Transport is more or less get your own way there (so for example, being from Bournemouth I'd need to get myself to Brighton, pay £20 to get the bike and myself - or just the bike, the application is a bit 'grey' when it comes to this point - to London)

You're welcome to come down the night before and stay here.

Once you've got the wheels off, you might just be able to have the frame sticking off the back off the bike and on the back of the seat.
Then just put the wheels on top.
Alernatively, you could have it secured to the side of the bike, vertically, then with the wheels secured to the otherside.

Previously I've taken the wheels off and attached to the frame with bungies to get on busses which don't allow bikes.

Thumbs Up byke.

The transport they offer should include your push bike I believe.
Team name will be 'BCF Racing' presuming everyone is ok with this?
Team Leader: 'Dave Giffould'.
If anyone hasn't seen it, there is an entry fee, not too cheap at £24, but this goes just to the cost of organising the event, rather than to the charity it's self.

As mentioned, if anyone can get their bike to mine, hopefully I can at least get the bike to London. If we smile very nicely at some other Reading clique members we could possible blag a car driven down to take people as well - or if anyone's got insurance to drive other cars, they can take mine.

Oh and;

Cheers G!

Think I'm going to invest in one of those nice and fat gel seats from Halfords; my ass kills after 60 miles on the motorbike never mind a skinny bicycle seat!

All sounds good to me. I'll make sure I get my application off by the 10th when it is all confirmed. I'll probably drive down to Clapham and then try and get their transport back to Clapham from Brighton.

Fortunately I can't see that being a big issue for me. Laughing

I'll get my form sorted out this evening. Thumbs Up

Just to make sure, are there any competitive heros amongst us?

I'll be looking to take my time, enjoy the summer sunshine ( Praying ), mess about a little bit and have some fun so I'm hoping there are no Lance Armstrongs coming along...

Do stops include pub stops?
