I'm use to riding something a bit larger, but my bike is currently off the road so I'm using my girlfriends NSR. It's still in it's stock restricted form as she's still a learner, I was thinking of taking the plate out by the carb but leaving the exhaust as it is (so I can give it her back after I've finished). Is it worth doing without doing the exhaust? Will it make a performance difference or is it not worth it? I want to be able to give it back to her restricted so she doesn't moan, that's why I don't want to remove the exhaust restrictor.

Cheers

it will increase the performance. it will hit over 100 with the restrictors out, and 0-60 will be about 6 seconds

imo derestrict it and both of you use it then Very Happy just tell her you got it service or something Razz

for that, just wondered if only removing the carb restrictor makes any performance difference or whether I need to do both.

exhaust makes most of the difference.

you really need to do them both, to make it be running right and properly

Yer I've ordered my NSR and like the sound of 0-60 in 6seconds..that would burn off alot of cars, and on a 125cc thats special.

It's a NSR-RR. so I assume it will be fully restricted when it arrives?

Will I find a dealer who will do a proper job even if they know it's illegal? Or will I have to find a back street garage to do it..oh yea and how much did it cost people just for the exhaust?

And is it possible for police to take your bike away and check it, for example if they caught an NSR at 100mph plus and they knew a restricted bike did 75mph can they take it to the crusher? mmm I suppose it's safe to stick to 75mph, and enjoy the fast 0-60?

Alex:
IS the bike you ordered an import?

If so best advice is to cancel the order ASAP.

I don't know of anyone that's got an import properly derestricted.

If not, do it yourself... should cost about £1 in drill bits.
IF you're unsure there's probably some one on here that can help.

Yea just watch out that u wont get any crappy restricted braindead CDI unit...

My nsr is import too but CDI aint restricted...

how can you tell if the cdi unit is restricted?? and is this possible on the r-k model because i cant find restrictors in mine but it wont do above 75!? (unless its just my lack of knolege)

also i think all of the rr models are restricted in the cdi unit and not the r ones!!!
(i think)

Not to sound too stupid, but exactly what needs to be done to the bike, in order for it to be fully restricted.

I know im buggered cos my bike is a Honda NSR 125 RR import from Italy Sad

Anyways, info on full de-restiction would be appreciated.

Thx

your such a fecking eejit.

why do you think all the companies add powervalves to their 125cc strokers? its not for decoration.

powervalves increase bottom end power without sacrificing top end rush, by varying the back pressure on the exhaust. study how 2 stroke work to understand more, but the back pressure and wavelengths are of the exhaust is important for making power.

1000cc monsters dont have powervalves, and dont need them. small 2 strokes need them to have a spread of power, big bikes dont.

so if your bike runs better with the powervalve disconnected, its fucked.

Taking the crap out of the intake will not make much difference without doing the pipe aswell. IMO it will just make throttle response slow and sluggish. It will go from a nippy, can that word be used?!, slow thing to a sluggish slower thing.

Leave it. Ridding a slow bike will improve your skil coz you will have to keep your momentum up. Plus, it will make your Blade feel even faster when you get another one!

Powervalves.

You are both confused eejits.4T Pv's vary back pressure to make use of resonance in the exhaust.

I cant spell, i know.

2T pv's alter the exhaust timing. NOTHING to do with back pressure. Thats the expansion chamber/pipe.

They keep the timing low for low down power and torque, then raise the timing for top end power. Bit like VTEC, but not, if you get me.

If youve ever ridden a bike with a jammed valve, either open or shut, you will understand how much difference they make.

Rant over.

you are one of the stupidest things since vegetarians.

as was explained to you on irc last night, your powervalue was fucked before. it should open at about 8k rpm, not close.

cutting cdi wires is also bad. jamming your power valve open/closed is daft.

do the normal derestrictions, and then just let the bike be. its only a 125 ffs

It was me that was talking about de-restricting my girlfriends NSR. I had four de-restricted strokers over a six year period. So I'm use to hussling the little buggers along, but 70mph in 11 seconds is doing my head in. I was only asking if there was any benefit doing the derestriction by the carb, I don't want to do anything that's not easily reversable. Can't wait to get the Blade back though, oh to have acceleration again!

Cheers
