If I remember they were always quoted as 11 or so, no way 14.

Like the L plate positioning, can remember doing that on my unfaired NSR and ducking right down on the tank to try and get a little bit extra speed Smile.

Same with any bike, then Wink. Just the CG needs a bit less looking after than some others!

Nice Toby, see you've polished the wheels up, my dad has a habit of polishing mine alot when i come back from a ride, even if i dont ask him Confused This is his Virago 535, can tell he has a thing for polishing!

https://www.bikepics.com/pics/pics/yamaha-virago535-99-bikepics-405610.jpg

I wonder if the L plate helps the top speed Laughing Most ive had is around 60mph clocked by my dad following, really doesn't feel that strained in a head wind either.

The only problem ive had with mine is a coil or brush ( Question ) in the starter motor going after a unplanned stint down a long dual carriage way, (Got lost Embarassed ) As it wouldnt start on the electric i thought i'd run out of petrol Mad Kick start was easy to use though, alot better than my scooter was.

I just used autoglym motorcycle cleaner on them,

Unfortunately they are starting to rust as I took the cover off of my chain to wash it and never put it back on, started to scratch my wheels Sad

I binned it in a car park a couple of months ago, done about 30 quids worth of damage lmfao.

I used to be able to get about 65 maximum on a straight on my cg.

A memorable day was when I hit an indicated 75! I was assisted by a down hill and a tail wind, though Smile.

I'd be well too scared to do over 60mph on my CG... it gets a bit nervous. Lol.

Theres a bit of rust on mine but on the bits i cant see!

Dropped my bike twice when putting it on the center stand, no damage apart from a scuffed mirror Confused

Its been slung down the road on both sides by the first owner though, either that or he got it lent over well in the twistys' Shocked

I dont go above 50 when its really windy, feels like a bicycle!

Lucy, here is a piccy of me on my old CG taken last October, mine was only just a yr old when I brought it, 2004 plate. Three months later and the garage where I got my hornet from brought it off of me, reckon he had a buyer lined up perhaps:

CG's are strangly slow. Was allowed to have a little play at the CBT place, felt like there was nothing pushing me forward.

Not had the chance to race one yet though Laughing
Speedwise it felt similar to my RS (Cg had about 15mph more), but the RS is more agressive and accelerates harder.

(hope you dont ride with your arms locked liked that Island girl, can mess up the elbow joins or something horrid.)

Physics suggests a standard derestricted CG should accelerate harder if used properly, even though it's got higher and probably less gears.

Liking the newer CG Island Girl Thumbs Up Seen a few and they look alot smarter and smoother than the older models.

Ive never ridden with a RS to see which is faster, but the CG is quite strong in 3rd and 4th gear.

A CG couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding, top notch first bikes though. Very forgiving, depreciate very slowly, will run forever on chip fat and leaves.

They had /exactly/ the same top speed as my MZ 125, which was a two stroke, although the MZ would accelerate /alot/ harder.

I think both put out under 12bhp.

My mate's CG used to cain 50s off the line... I doubt if an RS50 would put up much of a fight to be honest Confused
