Ok, I gather you are traffic police in surrey, near Boxhill in fact. Would you be able to enlighten us as to the situation as to Boxhill. Today it was crap there. Police everywhere, and they were threatening, dunno if they actually did, to put tickets on all bikes parked out the front on the pavement Evil or Very Mad .

Add to that the sheer number of traffic cars, camera vans, police vans, and that gay fence that has been put up. I am right in thinking you are trying to stop boxhill becoming a meeting point? If so, why? Its only gonna start up somewhere else Rolling Eyes

Also, came across this on another message board, MCN Ninjas:

Quote:

went to boxhill today was told by a few people

that next week at boxhill the plod will be having

a major crackdown on the usual things , cans

number plates & dark fly catchers. spoke to a

friend in the know and he said it is true.

weather it happens or not YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Again, any input on this?

This stuff really annoys me, cos who is being hurt by the bikes being parked on the pavement? Who is being hurt by the race cans sitting in the carpark? Ok, some of the numberplates do take the piss a little bit...

I await replies Smile

Boxhill is not my patch but I have spoken with lets say someone who should know.
As i'm sure you can understand I cannot give out exact info on what tactics the force intend to use and when. One of the reasons I cannot in all honesty fully join in your forum.
However, seems that too many complaints have been made re the bikers. In the main the police in the past have tried to turn a blind eye to all but the most blatant rulebreakers.
In my experience the action this weekend will continue a couple of weeks just to keep the complaints down.
It would seem that while the local police and authorities in the main are ok with the meet there are certain elements which seem to have a total disregard for any rules. Its these bikers that are going to spoil the event for all.

Anyway I cannot tell you exactly what is going on, but I will not be going to the hill for a couple of weeks... ...............OK

Surely they cant do you for having a stationary bike parked up with a small plate and illegal can? you could just say that you dropped it off there in a van that morning and had not been riding it on the roads.

Parking bikes on the pavement could potentially cause a pedestrian to have to step off into the road to go around the bikes. This could lead to them been squished by a cage driver Rolling Eyes Although unlikely, it would be the argument from the police point of view.

Newbie: public car parks are public road afaik, and they could always sit there and wait for you to go home Rolling Eyes

The pavement in question has a large area of grass between it and the road, which is where said bikes got moved to. So now the grass gets damaged instead. And there was room to walk past them, and only people walking around there were bikers and police.

And in Ride, its P95, issue 95:

Quote:

How police powers could kill bike meets and see officers seize your machine.

Under the new anti social behaviour laws the police can impound your bike if they feel you are behaving in a manner that is likely to "alarm, distress or cause annoyance".
£105 to get it back, plus £12 a day storage, failure to pay in 21 days and they sell it at auction ( I think I heard that it is £350 for a car as this was originally aimed at the car cruises)

The police officer is the one to judge you on the spot, and although it says that they are meant to give you a warning first, there is a clause whereby they do not have to give this warning if it is impracticable (such as if you ride by before they can stop you and have to chase you)
Got that from someone on visordown, so its probably not word for word as the mag Wink

dont get me wrong folks, i do like my race can

but im well aware its illegal, as are 99% of people who use them. so if you get a ticket for it...."deal with it" you knew your can was illegal....you got caught end of, there could be 400 police officers walking through bh car park, but if your bikes perfectly legal....theres not a damn thing they can do about you being there.

im personally not that worried about bh....there plenty other places to go, but if i wanted to go that badly...i would put my standard can back on, and then sit there happily knowing that pc plod couldnt do a damn thing about me being there.

basically....you put illegal items on your bike (as i have) then you know the risks.

you dont ever want to get any grief?? then leave your bike stock.

Of course you all know that when that dealer sold you that bike with the illegal plate, can etc and told you it was roadworthy then he has in fact broken the law. roughly speaking any goods, icluding cars and motorcycles must be sold in such a condition that they can be used legally for the purpose in which they were purchased. this does not apply if you purchased privately.

So I would presume that if ya get pulled, they were on there when you bought it from the dealer if ya get my meaning.

After all, your a biker not a bloody mechanic...............

Of course I would not condone or even suggest you use such a dishonest excuse

no its not illegal to sell anything as an aftermarket add on providing you are advised of its use by the dealer. Again, this is not the case with private sales.

If you add anything to your bike which you have been made aware that it is not legal then sorry its down to you.

Craig.
Cant really register, would be a conflict.

It would be somewhat unfair if I was to have information which I could not pass on to you or have information which could be used against anyone.

however, I will set up a pseudo hotmail e-mail address and pass it on to someone sensible on this forum. Anything i can then help with I will and leave it to you guys to post.
