arms round you.

you can buy grab rail for it I think

and you can also buy something called love handles, made by motrax, which is a thing you put around your waist, which gives them a set of handle bars to hold onto Cool

bungee the bugger on.. Laughing

seriously, I don't know what manufacturers are thinking of not fitting grab rails on some bikes (ZX12 for example) and I will be buying one for mine at the bmf

personally when riding pillion I always like to have one hand tucked in the GR for braking, stops you nutting the pilot and one hand on my knee so that I can grab him if I need to under very heavy acceleration or high speed. I nearly learnt this the hard way with both hands in the GR of a ZZR1100 as the speedo swept past 150mph (I could see up to that point) when the wind blast was so strong that it pivittod me around my hands into a horizontal lying back position with my feet tucked under the pilot's knees

was fucking hilarious at the time but really - do you want to land on the back of your head at 150mph ... whooo no.. Evil or Very Mad

I did the same on that ZX7, part from my left leg went past his head, while my right leg was tucked holding the subframe... Confused
was ver scary at the time.
Kinda funny now though,
And 150mph pillion is not the nicest of things on a country road Sad

I was on craigs ninja at about 135, and that was ok i thought. Its easier i also found if you put your arms onto the tank when they are accelerating away as well.

oh yeah, and that was my first time pillion Very Happy

I allways just put a hand on the tank to stop braking forces... because I'm leant forward that counteracts acceleration. If the rider accelerates really hard i can allways put my arm around their waste. If I think they're likley to accelerate hard then I'll put both hands on the tank so I can grab their waste if I get thrown back etc.

who cares, you are gone in about 10 secs so it doesnt matter Razz

but yes, put your hands on the tank, and make sure the balls of your feet are on the pegs and not the heels, cos it helps deal with the accel better, and you are less likely to lose the peg

its better than holding on the the rider, cos its less for them to worry about if the pillion can support themselves

Exactly how far do you guys travel in this position...??

Anything more than 5 miles and it'll become a bloody nightmare for the pilot and not much better for the pillion, both people's backs will be scrunched in agony.

It's not difficult .... Grab rail for braking, lean forward for acceleration, brace with the rider for very hard acceleration if you need to ... all you need to do is fit a ferkin' grab rail if you wanna carry a pillion properly

I've been a fair way on the back of V's cbr 4 a couple of times, allways just with my hand on the tank. It's not anymore hunched over than when riding (less so) and it hasn't forced her to hunch over more.

No further bracing is needed for acceleration (okay it's only a 4.. but on the back of a vfr4 it definatley felt a lot worse sitting in various other ways)... obviously with a really small pillion and big rider it's not going to work as well.... but then the rider won't have to be so worried about the pillion crushing them Smile
