What are some good crossers.
preferably 125cc or below, which wont require much work to be made road going bikes, and can be picked up cheap (<£300)?

you'd be very lucky.

working crossers don't generally go for less than about 700 quid for 125 ones, anything bigger is more expensive.

look on ebay and you'll get some old dog field bike for 200 or 300 quid.

or find a pile of bits for 150 like me and build the bike up from that.

the can am bombardier i'm getting a couple of hours is in several large peices, and a non runner - needs a clutch plate, a spoke, and it needs me to rewire the magneto to get the engine going, also lacks any lights or wiring loom outside of the engine.

but its cheap, i've got the skills, and being a 2 stroke theres no fucking valve timing to worry about.

If you're looking for anctual proper mx bike you want to use on the road ... don't bother. They need very regular servicing etc.
As you're looking cheap best bet is to go for an old DT125 etc field bike (may well have had some road stuff removed). Make sure you check frame numbers and probably get a hpi check... may well have been nicked at some point.

Have a look in www.adtrader.co.uk ... often soem decent bargins in there.
